what a difference 6 years makes
by Goldminer in.
summer 1998. my wife and i, along with 2 other couples and a single sister spent a week-end at a cottage.we had lots of fun;swimming, hiking, telling jokes, playing music, enjoying meals together.all in all a very fun week-end(except when a few had a panic attack on sunday morning and absolutely had to leave to go to the meeting).anyways the rest of us cleaned up and went back to town for lunch.. fast-forward 6 years-summer 2004.
6 of those 7 are now inactive(the 7th might be,i'm not sure),2 are disfellowshipped, one couple is divorced, the other couple are having serious marital problems(separated for a while),the single sister got married and is now living a life of hell(married to a complete power-hungry freak).the only couple still together are my wife and i,me struggling to fade away from the jw's and her struggling to do more for the "truth".. anyways,my wife and i were thinking about that week-end at the cottage and saying how we could never be us 7 again there to enjoy another week-end like that.and to think,jw's are supposed to be the happiest people, you'd think this would have become an annual thing, not people leaving each other or just becoming more miserable as the years pass us by.. thought you might find this story interesting, and if you think about it,how many jw's can tell a similar story?

Well here's a post-jw story.
For the past 5 years, I have gone to a particular city for a St.Patty's day festival with about 30 of my closest long-distance friends... we have gone every year, and every year we have the best time... all girls, all laughing, goofing off. I have my tickets and will be there in March again this year!
I could have never found girls to do that when I was a JW, NEVER....

I never want a puppy again... all that potty training! Augh! But he is sooo cute! That is what gets me in trouble.
The last dog I got was from the pound, a cute 8lb poodle and she is the BEST dog I have ever had, totally understands english, never messes in the house, has tons of personality. I would always recommend checking out your local animal shelter.

Having a hard time leaving? Here's what worked for me:
by marked inmoving.. move away from the situation, if at all possible.
have a job offer in another state/province/country?
need to go to school elsewhere?

I only moved 30 miles away, but we live in moderately large area, so the 30 miles did the trick for me. I never run into any dubs, and I live my life wonderfully without them.

JW young people...on the move...to where?
by Gill inmy experience as a jw teenager was total repression and control from my parents and i know that the majority of my friends at that age in the congregations suffered the same.. now...what's happening?!.
i come home and find a regular full time pioneer smooching with my non jw son on the sofa.. i"m reliably told that jw youngsters are in the local pub after each meeting and have to be thrown out at chuck out time.. they seem to behave in a far worse way that some non bible believing youngsters that i know.. are they finally feeling their feet and the wtbts due a huge exodus in the next few years?.
i'm slightly embarrassed at the behaviour of some of these youngsters when i'm told what they've been seen getting up to.. or am i just getting old?

I can't imagine living a double life ever... I never really had to lie when I faded, but sneaking around and having to lie would make me crazy... I would much rather just be me, take it or leave it.

Her parents would keep her away from your son if you wanted to let them know... before it gets too serious. I can't imagine anything really good coming from this. Augh! So glad I don't have kids to worry about.

GOVERNING BODY only
by nowino innew here, so, should i be crossing any lines, i ask your pardon.
recently i asked a question within another's post on the meaning of "junior, senior" statements/levels.
the response i received within that post( and thank you ) was that it had to do with the "number of posts" one has/had made.

THis isn't the only message board I am a part of... every other board has ranks too.
One gave you stars, when you posted a thousand, you got 1 star, and after 4,000 posts you got stuck with 4 stars, no more to be had.
Another board just displays your number of posts... there is a woman with over 21,000 posts on that board and she is THE authority on the subject (of that board)
I don't think it amouts to a hill of beans, other than to know who the regulars are. I've only been around a couple months and could care less what my rank or anyone's elses is... it's COMPUTER GENERATED!!!

I had an aunt-in-law yell at me when I called my grandmother's house one time... She had previously been DF'd for immorality and had been reinstated less than a year, she turned into such a judgemental b**tch ... anyways, she told me I wasn't to call there anymore. I yelled at her that I HOPED JEHOVAH GOD TREATS HER WITH AS MUCH KINDNESS AS SHE DISHED OUT and then hung up on her.
I really think if there is an accounting that they will be in BIG trouble.

The best Valentines day was when I was dating my husband... he had me come over to his apartment and he had lit candles all over and made a huge bubble bath and we just sat in the tub and laughed and drank champagne.
You have to picture the apartment though, hundreds of textbooks, computers, games, clothes, typical messy guy's apartment... he tried so hard to make it romantic. It was his efforts to make me happy. I'd rather not have a present, I'd rather have some special time with him.

I think the busiest people on this board actually are helping to GIVE LIFE to the people who might be doubting, be lost in the JW crap and need help and support in an anonymous environment.
