I have a dog that has epileptic seizures and had to be put on phenobarbital. It depends on the frequency of attacks if they'll get medication for it. Disorientation if common after a seizure. It seemed to help my dog when turned off anything that produced loud sounds (such as the tv or stereo and turned down or off any bright lights. I would sit with him and gently stroke his back, talking to him in a soft, calming voice. It can be really scary watching your pet go through these. If he has anymore, pay attention to how long the seizure lasts to tell your vet. Also, keep a record of how frequent the seizures are.

I've had it....
by Country_Woman inyesterday evening my dog got an epileptic attack - peeing all over the tapestry and almost glueing at the floor with the foam at his mouth (it is very hard to remove).
after the attack he wanted to "walk" pacing up the room (and backyard) for a long time.. .
this night he was whining a lot - wanting outside... (which i allowed for at least 5 times - thus having not much sleep myself).

THE WORST THING ABOUT THE BORG ??????????
by vitty inwhat was the worse thing while you where in the "truth".
for me, it felt that everynight was a meeting night, the relentlous pressure getting to the meetings.. for my husband, apart from the meetings, it was the never ending assiments.
for my teenage son, it must have been field service.

For my teenage son, it must have been field service
As a teen, that was one of the worst things for me, too. I was a very shy child and field service, rather than bringing me out of my shell, made me retreat farther into it. I would literally feel sick on the weekends.
What bothered me the most after that was the isolation I felt since we were not supposed to associate with worldly people and the fact I was never encouraged in education.

do you make choices?
of course you will check if the organization is serious but do you also check if it has a religious background?

When it comes to non-disaster giving, I prefer to donate gifts/handmade items to the hospitals of my choice because you know for sure that the children are getting what you send.
How do you go about donating to hospitals gifts that you make yourself?

"Here's a few unlikely predictions for them:
- Armageddon could show up
- The R&F could be encouraged to read the bible WITHOUT the publications
- Ray Franz could get a public apology and re-instated
- 1914 could be dropped altogether
- Women could be appointed as elders
- Higher education and making something of yourself could be encouraged
- Pedophiles might be disfellowshipped and reported to the police
- Door to Door witnessing might be substituted for doing REAL charity work
- Shunning family and friends who are no longer Witnesses rule could be dropped
- Pigs might fly out of the CO's ass "
Ok, #10 will happen before 1 thru 9.

I love all of the David Sedaris books. I've also have a few of his audio tapes so I can listen and giggle as I'm driving. Read the above mentioned Red Tent and loved it. I'm currently reading "River Horse: A Vogage Across America". The History of the Lewis and Clark Expedition (3 volumes) are quite interesting reading. I also have enjoyed any Sigurd Olson books, Where the River Runs by Gary and Joanie McGuffin and Edges of the Earth by Richard Leo and many, many more, too many to list.

Lying to someone on their deathbed...
by mkr32208 inis it wrong?
they are going to be dead soon right?
does it matter what we tell someone who's dying?

"I wouldn't want to be lied to, especially on my death bed, as the people that I hope would be around me would be my closest friend(s), not people who lie, at such a crucial time..."
I still politely disagree, depending on the people involved and the issues. It's never that black and white. Life is not just black and white. I've seen truth destroy what tiny bit of relationship was still left between two people, one of them on their deathbed, with no time to resolve the problems that had been. The person that died "wanted and needed" to hear one thing, the other person couldn't "'honestly" tell the dying person what the dying person wanted to hear. The dying person died emotionally distraught over this and the surving person is weighted down with guilt after the fact, because, eventually the surving person would have been able to say what the dying person wanted to hear, but not at that time, and would now give anything to have said what was wanted to heard when desperately needed, even though it wouldn't have been truthful at that time. Life can be messy. People are complicated. Emotions and feelings are complicated. We, each and every one of us, are shades of gray.

I guess the answer depends upon the individual. Personally, I would say whatever needs to be said to help ease the worries the dying person might have. They're going through so much facing death anyway. I've seen some struggle to hang on until they thought their most worrisome issues were resolved. I believe peace of mind at the time is one of the greatest gift you can give someone who is dying. But that's me.

I got DF'd at age 17 after already having been DA'd for 2 yrs when they found out I fornicated with the man I was about to marry (of course my belly was sticking out a wee bit during the walk down the aisle ) but this site actually condones looking for partners when one is separated or divorced NOT free to marry?!?
