hello, i am new to this board in a way.
i have been reading messages for about a month now and just got the nerve up to register an account so i can give my "two cents" once in a while.
i was raised a jw, but just recently expressed openly that i do not have plans on associating with them any longer.. anyways, not going to type my story out right now, as i do not know if any one wants to hear it.
May this old so and so add his welcome to two new ladies.
We would love to hear your stories any time you are ready . And isnt it great to be able to look at the world with open eyes now that the penny has dropped and you are no longer in the shade of W T thinking?

i rarely receive any negative e-mail, but i did receive a rather interesting e-mail within the last 48 hours.. .
then that person told me that a ms who was allegedly "on the fringes" was guided by him/her to this board and happened to see me use a rather colorful, but made-up metaphor, namely "dipf***.
" the dub was horrified and scared away never to return because of that and also because of what he saw on some other debate another well-known poster was engaged with.
"Next, this writer called me "an OLD man" several times and not in the kindest of terms. Heck, I'm only 54! I wonder how old that writer is. I'm in my "middle-earlies!" "

many of us still have jw family still very much held within the congregation.
personally, i love my family but they do have this uncanny ability at times to absolutely drive me nuts in sheer exasperation.
the things particularly that really gets my goat are the following: .

Minimus and Joanna are also right though. Everyone is human and many people would be "difficult" anyway. The point that gets our goat is that they claim to be so different, so damn better than everyone else and yet at home they are so judgemental and quick to use all the argumentative skills they learned on the doorsteps - just to put you down .

one thing that i enjoy about this board is the variety of topics that you can enjoy.
there is the "fluff" and there is the serious and there's something a little in between.
which subjects do you find most interesting to read?
We have one thing in common, besides a bizarre sense of humour
the thread that binds us is our connection with J W's . So posts have to be connected with that in order to get my attention. Mind there are always exceptions!
We must be doing a job also for the thousands of lurkers who can learn the truth about the T by trawlng our threads

well, my fluff thread on eggs went over pretty well, so i thought i would start one on bacon.
now, of course, bacon and eggs go together.
that is axiomatic.

when you have the "who is the poster you like least competition" i know this post will enable you to choose gravedancer as a prime candidate but tfb here goes:.
it would seem as if everyone here is convinced that the organization of jehovah's witnesses is rife with molestors and they are raping kids at every juncture and every chance they get.
perhaps with the latest attention silentlambs has been getting this issue is just more prevalent but the reactions of some seem so stooped in personal bitterness that they are willing to just blindly accuse any jw of being a molestor (even when they know nothing else about that person other than the person is a jw).. true i agree 110% that the policy of the 2 witness rule needs to be changed immediately and victims should be encouraged to go to the police.
Fot a long time I thought that Silentlambs were over sensationalising a minor problem. But I have been convinced by the huge weight of evidence from so many people , and the T V both here and in the U S . There IS a large problem. And the borg has been criminally negigent in dealing with it .
Having said that , vast majority of the dubs I have known have been lovely individuals with high moral standards - but as they have said themselves , "You cannot be tolerant of evil in ones midst"
i was going along fine with my glass of ice tea, my cat sitting next to me as bill and the two young ladies were being interviewed.
i even made it okay through the first section of the wt comment that, "we abhor molestation..." but when chung got to the part of their comment that said something to the effect of "we provide counseling and emotional support to victims," i nearly spilled my tea on my cat.
i replayed this segment alot, and noticed that the reaction of bill and the two ladies to that section was that they were just as shocked as i was.
O K I havent seen this progrmme. But taking the post at face value, So who is going to provide the counselling and emotional support?
The "training" may be a letter to the B of E , or an item at an elders school, - suddenly they are a skilled counsellor? how is a middle aged manual worker to know how to relate to a young girl in such a dreadful situation?

theres got to be quite a few here who, like me are the only onbe to turn "apostate" in their family.. although you know you've done the right thing, all your family think either you have been mislead by satan or you have turned evil.. how do you feel around your family,and do you wonder what they think of you?
My wife's the only one that knows what I really think and she has more savvy than to tell the elders.

i knew a very nice person who was also very shy.she would sweat bullets just thinking about joining the tms or commenting at meetings.yet she was the sweetest person at the kh.she confided to someone she thought she could trust and was told she didn't have jehovah's spirit if she couldn't do these things that were required of her.also that she might not make it into the new world because romans 10;10 says clearly "public declaration by mouth means your salvation".i don't get it.god doesn't love shy people?but he created shy animals!
needless to say,this woman does not attend meetings anymore because she thinks there is no hope for her anyway.funny,i have never heard anyone in another religion say you were doomed because of shyness.
Thats unless you are an elders son or dughter. In my last cong there was a bunch who got away with doing nothing, on the pretext of being shy. - it did not seem to affect them in other areas of life.
Since Daddy was the P.O. No one dared say they were doomed.
