  If You Could Live In Any Era or Decade What Would It Be?

  i kind of like the 50’s and early 60’s because of the innocence and “happy days” outlook by that generation.

  it seems most people were pretty innocent and real.. would you rather be living in a different era or is this century working for you?

  I say that my time period has been the best to live in. The baby boomers born soon after WW2. We enjoyed the steady rise in affluence during the 50s and 60s, we had the best music in the 60s to early 70s ( IMHO) We experienced no wars or hardship on home soil.

  I am glad to be in the last part of my life now, though. As time goes by I find it harder and harder to relate to the modern world of digital tech. , struggling economy, changing social habits and standards, and what sounds to me rotten music. !

  I recall hearing an audio from one of Ray Franz's associates , a Chris Sanches who had been involved in the original translation of The NWT into Spanish.. He maintained that the forward contained "a lie" , when it said this Bible has been translated from the original languages. In fact it was taken from the English NWT of the time.

  the fact that there are pomi ex-jws who have been disfellowshiped or inactive for years who still live in constant fear of armageddon indicates that watchtower will manage to exist in one way or another for years, if not decades, to come.

  The thread title said " anytime soon" ....that is the key. I suspect they can reinvent doctrine to explain why Armageddon is perpetually "soon" . Their lawyers and accountants can keep the business side going gor some years to come.

  Eventually, I am sure it will wind up. Surely the years of big growth are over but there are 8 million devout dubs who dont want to know the truth about "the truth"

  Eventually, though as Gamaliel said, it will wind up since it is NOT from God ( Acts chapt.5)

  many exjw’s don’t remember their birthdays or birthdates, some actually guess and are off by a year or two.

  i’m always proud to say my age, and i’m a woman, here’s why.

  i thought i would be dead in 1975. i turned 16 in 1975, and i thought god would kill me because he knew i hated being a jw, even though i hated it, i thought it was ‘da troof’.

  Back in the day, I called at the bank to deliver a form that my wife had completed. Unfortunately she had neglected to write in her date of birth.

  The bank clerk asked me , "what is your wife's date of birth?" ..... As non birthday keeping Witnesses, I had to admit I did not know..

  "Fancy not knowing your wife's birthday" she tutted !

  I did learn it after that.

  Publisher numbers versus baptised witnesses.

  i grew up as a witness, and left about 10 years ago, i'm currently researching witness numbers for a project i'm working on, and i can't seem to get an accurate number of baptised witnesses - hardly a surprise!

  from their website it looks like they list the number of publishers instead of the number of baptised witnesses, so it totally works to obscure how many actual witnesses there are, apart from the fact it's morally dubious to class a publisher as a minister of god as they refer to publishers on their uk section of the site.

  i also am trying to work out how many leave every year, even approximate figures would be great, from their own website it just looks like they try to massage figures to make them look as favourable as possible.

  I was told some time ago that one of the advantages of the Chelmsford project was that it would allow the sale of several buildings that were then used for residences off the site of the old Bethel. Judging by the postcodes they are all in spitting distance of the old site.

  It is a lot of money but that is what property costs in that part of the world. I would accept it if we were told that they have been done up for sale.

  That is how they will pay for a super new UK base at Chelmsford.

  you don't need to understand complicated ways to go from 607bce to 1914ce.

  you don't have to go back to the late 1700's to understand the founding of jehovah's witnesses on the back of william miller's teachings.

  you just need to know that watchtower math and past doctrines along with changes in teachings are all based on lies.

  Voting..... No doubt the Watchtower would deny expelling those who vote, and technically this is true since it is sin that merits dissassocian, not d/fing. What is the difference?

  What would happen to your country if you could exchange your president for Trump?

  say trump for trudeau, trudeau for trump, trump in exchange for your respective european country, etc -- for a few years?

  would you consider it a win or a loss for your country?.

  I am sure most Brits would be horrified at the idea of Mr Trump in charge of this country.
