Of course they edit,.... and drop the old ones . That's what they do. If you have the WT Library it contains an update facility. I believe the online library goes to yr 2000 but also warns that electronic version may differ from the original printed ones.

Living in the last of the last days - A new prophecy
by Listener inalthough not a new concept by the watchtower, particularly in public talks and at assemblies, they have now put this prophecy in writing.watchtower oct 2019 page 8 -13 study no.40 titled -keep busy during the last of "the last days".
the first paragraph asks '1.
what convinces us that we are living in “the last days”?
-
BluesBrother
We were saying in the 1960's , 70's, 80's and 90's that "the last days cannot last much longer, that's obvious "!
But they did... they last and last and keep lasting

Looking back at the people I knew in the Jobos.....
by punkofnice in...there are very few if any, that i would have willingly associated with.. my 'worldly(tm)' friends are all brilliant people.
they are nothing like the weirdos i had to put up with in the congregations.. what is your take on the people in the jobos as opposed to your associates now?.

I have often said that I still have to have some contact with my wife's current congo. It is better to be involved a little. It helps her ,or so I like to think, I provide someone she can moan to when the elders upset her and that policy has kept us happily still married.
So what about them as people? Most of them are on a different planet and don't know I exist. A few closer friends to her are good genuine people. One elder is friendly and at least tries to reach out... The other elders are completely indifferent to us both...
Back in the day when I was involved , I have known 2 or 3 really brilliant elders who could manage well and really cared. They are long gone now.
In short, dubs are just people like the ones you work with . If you're lucky you get on ok . That is all you can hope for

JW's revelling in their online statistic...
by The Fall Guy in...that their web site is the most translated in the world.. https://www.tomedes.com/translator-hub/most-translated-website.php.
do jw's genuinely believe that statistics prove divine backing?
you can fool some of the people some of the time...there are lies, damned lies, and statistics!.

Perhaps this information demonstrates why the text of their writing is so simplistic these days. It has to be easily translatable by an army of non scholarly translators.
Also, the message may be available in 1000 languages but how many people really know what JWs believe.?

When was it time for you to walk away from your congregation meetings and the WTBTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe basic virtue for a human being is to be true to yourself – the integrity of thought, emotion, and action.. .
ten years ago ( after 32 years as a jehovah's witness), i finally decided that my own mental sanity and being true to myself was more important than attending congregation meetings and serving the watchtower society.
i stopped (years before) field service, the ministry school, answering at the watchtower studies, missed numerous meetings and walked in minutes before the meetings started and left after the closing prayer, i knew it was time to leave.

Like others, The seeds were sown when the "generstion" prophecy was tampered with in the nineties. It seemed clear that were reacting to events rather than proactively telling things in advance. Some later, towards the end of the decade , I dared to think the unthinkable, and ask myself if it really was "The Truth" or just another religion of men.
That was it, scales fell from my eyes of perception and I have never doubted that conclusion. It took a while to back out ,fading gently , but here I am.... apostate, under the radar and happily still married to my dubby wife of many years .

Not having time or inclination to settle to a vid. I knew nothing about, I cut and pasted this...
"Walter J. ReMine, author of The Biotic Message, presents "A Scientific Theory of Intelligent Design," based upon eleven years of research into biological science and the potential of a biotic message purposely planted within life itself by an intelligent Creator.3 Nov 2015"

Royal Commission into Charitable status .
by smiddy3 inaustralia has in the last few years conducted a royal commission into child sexual abuse in institutions ,the banking industry , and now aged care facilities .. i think its about time they had a royal commission into organizations that claim charitable status and eligibility to receive benefits/funding whatever.. i`m sure that if they ever did wtb&ts/jehovah`s witnesses would never meet the criteria to receive it.. as they do no charitable work in the community.. if they do any charitable work at all it is only to benefit only jehovah`s witnesses who they consider are in good standing in the jw community.. and isn`t that discrimination ?
not only among their own people but also the whole community ?.
or is it just wishful thinking on my part ,and its not going to happen..
-
BluesBrother
I quite agree Smiddy. A while back the. Charity Commission did look closely at them over the child abuse scandals but seemed satisfied when they issued the latest set of guidelines to elders.
When a Secretary, I recall filling in Charity tax refund forms and the reason for our charitable status was simply that we existed to teach the Gospel of The Bible. That was enough ,it seems.

Kenneth Richmond - Wrestler and former Circuit Overseer Dies
by eyeslice ini was only young but i do remember ken and his wife (valentina) being our co. he was a mountain of a man but it would appear from the bbc obituary he was a man of peace.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/news/lastword.shtml .
olympic wrestler and actor who became the last of the men who struck the symbolic j. arthur rank movie gong has died aged 80. .
-
BluesBrother
I well remember Ken Richmond. His fame as the banged the gong on screen eclipsed his wrestling prowess.
I worked as an attendant at Twickenham, London, District Convention one year and he was the Overseer of the department, so I had something to do with him . He seemed a decent guy and a good organiser.
I have not met any C.O’s with his prowess and life experience lately..

Question for Current and Ex Elders
by Iamallcool inhave you ever reinstate somebody even if they are not that repentant?.
-
BluesBrother
What is “not that repentant”?
it is not displays of tears and chest beating, rather the changes they have made in their lives that determine it.
In reality , the committees I was on were quite keen to reinstate after a decent period of time had past, if they had stopped doing the ‘sin’ , attended meetings and said the right things. NB. I only encountered the run of the mill smoking, fornication and adultery cases.
