Individuals in the Witnesses may conclude that the Gt Tribulation is upon us but the Society do not say that. Responsible elders and mature Witnesses refute that. They know that,even according to their beliefs there is a hell of a lot to happen first.
Yes they relate this to the four horsemen of Rev. But they have been riding since 1914 , they say... As the expression goes “Don’t get your knickers in a twist over it”
i recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.
I well remember plowing through the "Babylon" book on Tuesday nights back in the day. We met in this little basement flat , the group at that time had some odball characters and tbe rest of us had no great perception of things. The conductor had a hard job with it..
Later on ( 1969/70) we had that other delight "Then Is Finished The Mystery of God" discussing the rest of Revelation. ...
it has nothing to do about feeling chosen or ruling in heaven, but rather many feel it's a command for all christians, that by partaking you are accepting christ as their saviour!

Bobcat : I read the links you provided. It seems to me that the WT do frame their arguments well . This is the study WT for internal discussion by believers. They all believe in a Paradise earth and most want to live in it. The writers know their target audience.
An article in a public edition about who should partake would no doubt be different.

I guess there are two answers .
Agreed , Mainstream Christians partake because Jesus said to, and they have no concept of "other sheep" and an earthly hope.
In the dubs, more are partaking because of delusions of grandeur, pride, thinking themselves special or better than the others. If they came in from a church perhaps they never lost their wating to go to heaven.
Whatever, it shows it has nothing to with the H.S. calling them

well don't worry, as of next year we will be spicing things up for your enjoyment.. not only will we be having the talk before the memorial (i know, wild huh), but we will be treating you to the talk via video starring our famous speakers from bethel so you can see how a talk should be given (after all bethel does boast the best speakers in any country, right?!).

I guess we all enjoy the time when we were young . My decade would span late sixties- early seventies. Wonderful music, long hair, we had the comforts of the modern world with less technology.

I don’t think the instructions were to literally check in every day, but they have said that group leaders should stay in touch and ensure they are doing ok.. That seems a proper thing to do.
