the trial court summarized the facts as alleged by the plaintiff as follows:.

at the time of the judicial committee, plaintiff was fifteen years old.

I had some trouble opening some links so I googled it and found some UK reports . This is shocking! Whatever were the elders thinking? It amazed me that it could happen in 2008. By then the procedures were well established for contacting Bethel as a matter of course. Did they suggest it?

If I were to put on a JW elder hat for a moment, I can only think..... 18yr old and 15yr old does that count as child abuse? ( in their mind)

no doubt he claimed consensual so , did she scream? ( that’s how they might think) They appear to be trying to prove that she consented...... but at 15?

Any way you look at it , it was a terrible thing to do. I hope they get taken to the cleaners on this one.

Congregation Letter - 2021 Magazines Delayed???

we had a letter read in our cong.

last week that said the public wt and awake would be delayed during the beginning of 2021. meaning we would just use the 2020 version into 2021 and there would be no new ones at the beginning of 2021 until an undetermined time sometime during the 1st half of 2021. at least that is the gist that i remember.

it was in what atlantis provided but there was no further detail....very brief.. any more intel or speculation on this?

I noticed that the study article for tomorrow 15th November is all about staying focussed on the ministry. How can they discuss that these days.? I accept that they won't want them to lose the idea but there is no mention of covid restrictions, after,what , 9 months of the pandemic. ...

Collapse of JW Org - Possibly on the Horizon?

what i find interesting is even some of my pimi family is embracing the reality that all is not well with jw.org and that many current jws are just going through the motions due to not having a good way out of the org.

wondering what could realistically lead to the collapse of jw.org in the not distant future?

Nineteen years I have been on this board and all that time we have had threads predicting the imminent end of the Watchtower Society. .. we are almost as bad as they are for living in expectation of "the end"!

Ok that was a bit tongue in cheek, but we predict it because we want it to happen. .... Me too. But I have no reason to expect it.

These people are masters at self preservation and re inventing themselves. Look at the drastic changes to on line teaching, and the adoption of Zoom to replace meetings currently. We may see more links with commercial companies, anything to keep going and change with the times.

No doubt it will fold someday but not for a long time yet.

a comment on another thread cracked me up where the poster related what some elder said on the platform that: .

in the new system, we likely will not have genitals.” lol.

i’ve heard so much speculation from many jw’s on what will and won’t be allowed in the new system.

You know, despite spending social time with dubs prior to lockdown, I never hear this kind of speculation these days. They don’t seem to want to talk about beliefs. Do they really believe in their heart. You get a bunch of football supporters together they talk about football and their club..but these so called “Kingdom Supporters “ never talk of the kingdom.

in the old days it was different. I heard them all. ... Nakedness in the new world, a vegetarian diet, beards for men, or not? Children to be born? Marriage for ever?

Whatever a person wanted to see happen, they touted that as the future..

Peter Sutcliffe started studying with J W during his years at Broadmoor high security hospital for the criminally insane. I know the local dubs go in there to preach and a local elder confirmed his involvement. The media later reported that he had been baptized. Well, welcome Bro Sutcliffe!

After that though he was pronounced no longer insane and moved to a regular prison to continue his life sentence.

I dont know if the Witnesses kept seeing him after that , maybe not? Or maybe Phizzy is right and the paper got the wrong end of the stick.

Either way nobody will shed any tears when he snuffs it.

That link was not available to us in Europe. .. however we know of their campaign to local government officials. This will just be filed,or binned, with all the other crank letters they get .

Why do it. Because it is good, even necessary for the r and f to see that " important campaigns " are still going on and the work is not yet over. If The WTS lost their support, it would die.

I remember a big campaign back in tbe '70s , it was anti Christendom. We all had 100 leaflets to get out in 10 days. Oh, we felt so important doing that . We really felt that this was a historic message that would precede the end.

How wrong we were !

I get it that stadiums have to be booked early ,but to cancel all conventions worldwide this early?

Nobody knows what the situation will be next Summer. It may well , and hopefully will ,be safe to meet in many lands by then . If they wanted to ,they would make provisional bookings of venues.

I take it that they don’t want to meet up, which is surprising ,but suits me fine
