This week's Watchtower Study - don't complain if ...
by eyeslice indon't complain if you get kicked out of bethel after 23 years (it's really a blessing to be assigned back to the field) and don't complain if they sell your kingdom hall even if you have just invested your time and energy renovating it.. so encouraging?.

Back to Zaina’s experience....”But she says: “I never allowed myself to doubt the organization or Jehovah’s love.”.
She never allowed herself, that shows that doubt was there but she refused to entertain the thought. We have all done that , had long-standing recurring doubt that you don’t allow yourself to indulge in. One day though you do allow yourself to think the unthinkable...... and that is when your faith collapses.

JWs at Culture Fest
by peacefulpete inthe state university where we live has cultural festivals educating the public about art, food and music of the minorities in the community.
it is also an opportunity for some to generate a little income selling their wares and food.
the jws have successfully put up a booth right in the campus building and used it to actively proselytize and distribute literature.

I had not heard of the Hmong people, so I googled it . I know now, thank You.
Any excuse to get a an foothold, eh? What is that spinning wheel , with the logo “spin to win” .... The JW stance that I know forbids the calling on good luck or the spirit of competition... No standards these days.

ChatGPT and all the data in this forum
by StephaneLaliberte inhey simon, have you considered pushing all the knowledge gathered in this forum into an instance of chatgpt?
since its open source, i believe you could download, install and configure an instance of it.
would be quite interesting to interact with the data gathered in this forum through that medium..

If that is the future then I am glad that I am advanced enough in years so that I won’t see it ... I pity the next generation.

The Daily Mail made the JW connection in their review.. he didn’t like the programme
” Their lives revolve around their church, a sect apparently based on the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Rachel is sent out evangelising door-to-door when she would rather be studying, and David is obsessed with being made an Elder.”

Elders are no longer teachers
by eyeslice inback in the day when i was a young witness lad, you very much got the impression that at least the training as theocratic teachers was good.. even the bible reading back then had a short introduction and conclusion.
you had to research and prepare your own ministry school talks and then perhaps you would graduate to a half of a 55 minute public talk.
then later if you were a book study conductor, you got to decide which scriptures to read and highlight.

You are dead right, Eyeslice... The men that we learned from, our mentors and role models had the “art of teaching “ . They made the meetings interesting, even fun. I can remember some Thursday nights when the whole place seemed to rock ....
Now it is all as dull as dishwater. And they wonder why you g people are leaving!

The Hubris of the Governing Body
by cofty init's difficult to comprehend how arrogant the members of the governing body must be to sanction much of the content that appears in their literature.
they identify themselves as the 'faithful and discreet slave' - that alone requires an astonishing degree of pride.
but what is even more amazing - arguably to the level of insanity - is the way they then use that phrase to elevate themselves above the rest of the organisation.

BluesBrother
One of the common definitions of a cult is that it looks to one man as the supreme leader. Well, the WTS has no single man as a leader but it does have this entity that governs everything, the Governing Body , calling itself the “ Faithful and Discreet Slave” .
They are beyond reproach , beyond criticism or any disagreement. To do so is to become “Apostate “ and to disagree with God himself.
Same difference!

PIMO but to scared to talk about doubts
by Indoubtbigtime ini am pimo but too scared to talk about my doubts with anyone for fear of being shunned.
i know many now have doubts that the vaccines are safe and effective this is as good as doubting the gb.
you can it say anything in doubt about the vaccines because the gb still act like salesmen for big pharmaceuticals .

BluesBrother
Nicolaou is right . This vaccine thing is overblown and it is not a core doctrine of the faith. Concentrate on Scriptural matters and beliefs . The slaughter of all but Witnesses at Armageddon is far more important and was a key thought in my awakening. Actually it is ok to express doubts, the Bible says so , Jude vs 23. I raised questions politely and humbly as part of my fade .. It takes time but it is possible to exit if you do it carefully.
Depending on their attitude the congregation can be easier to deal with than your family. You may have to compromise to keep family ties, that is your decision.
