according to jw interpretation of bible chronology, the earliest human, adam, came into existence some 6,048 years ago compared to scientific dating of human fossils believed to be much older.
since jesus validated the creation of adam and eve as historical people and jc’s own lineage is traced all the way back to adam, bible chronology is certified as true and there must be something wrong with scientific dating.
what proves scientific dating as accurate that humans are much older than what bible chronology says?.
The Bible does not really provide chronology, only in certain cases where it states a time period for something.
Nowhere does it say that Adam was formed around 4000 years before Christ came. It does give ages of some people and age when they produced a child, but was that intended to be a complete record of mankind ? Are the numerologists reading more into it than they should?
im not an atheist, makes no mathematical sense, nor does the buy(more) bull(shit) god make any logical sense... maybe a deist on my best day, in the end you cannot get something from nothing, paradox if you ask me... but in reality i just dont care.

I have done that, simply because what I can see wrong about the WT does nothing th shake my basic belief in Christianity. I took exception to the doctrine that only JWs were acceptable and the time scale shows the 1914 to be unbelievable now... later on other man made teachings of theirs became obviously wrong.
Why should that shatter my belief in God? No reason to. I have no wish to debate with the diehard atheists on here , each one is entitled to their views and there is no reason to fall out over it.
i'm sure this will vary between jw to jw, but their choices are:.
1) they won't watch/read either.. 2) they will only allow lotr, not hp.. 3) they will only allow hp, not lotr.. 4) they will allow both.. in my experience, 3 never happens and 2 happens the most.
with the similar theme of magic, the occult, fantasy and monsters, i wonder what lets them think one is okay and the other is not.
In my household the sincere dubs love LOTR but denounce Harry Potter as demonise.
I enjoy LOTR but because of the above I have never seen Harry Potter, not that I really wanted to. This is not a universal view among dubs , I have had a bro. Tell us how “dangerous “ it is to watch LOTR .

Thank You Journeyman for that link to Mike Seidler’s online obituary. The picture it gives of a warm heated fun loving person is not what I remember. He was rather cool and businesslike with us . Him and his wife were not the most popular C/O couple by a long way.. Still I guess there was more to him ........

All the above comments are so very true. I am one of those baby boomers who learned it young and believed for too many years . Now I am forever linked because of family but at least I have my own mind.
They are the masters of deflection and wriggling out of responsibility for their errors. Remember Tony Morris sneering at those of us who believed that kids of the 60s /70s would never grow old in this system... Good riddance to him .

They used to use a mathematical formula from 607BCE. You remember, time ,times ,and half a time, and all that.. I have not heard that for years , apart from my diehard old relatives who still remember it. Nowadays they just use observation and some quotes from certain writers. They list World Wars global warming etc as proof that this is the time of the end.
from what i can see no such thing is happening.i became a jw in 1960 and remained for about 30 years and the numbers of active jw`s today in the world are far greater than they were back then.. and here in australia the numbers are much higher than they were back then .. so i don`t see that their in decline or have any worries about losing support .. don`t the numbers speak for themselves ?.

The numbers reported seem to show they are having slow growth if at all .
What we see with our eyes tells a different story. In my home town today there are less congregations and less Halls than there used to be.
In my youth every congregation had some members who were “coming along “ . Progressive bible studies who were learning the faith and coming in. It was not unusual to have whole families, the father being a smart type who went on to be a servant or elder.
Nowadys I only see kids growing up and taking responsibility and the occasional “study “ who is either an immigrant with poor English or a guy that is “ mentally challenged “ The quality of the converts is not there...
