We used to use KHConf in the days before Covid . As I recall it was just audio but it could be video too. It was nowhere as good as Zoom. I have not heard of any change back to it . That would be deeply unpopular.

Reminds me of going out in the Ministry while attending a convention, back in childhood days. We would get a map and sparse directions then spend all the time trying to find it. ,

"Beast" Memories
by NotFormer ini've been crapping on the wt a lot lately, which sometimes seems a bit unfair to me, especially since i was never in, therefore i don't really have a dog in the fight.
to provide a bit of balance, i'll reminisce about the rampant prophecy speculation going on in mainstream christianity (i refuse to use the wt's pejorative term: "christendom", especially since by definition, they're part of that classification đ) in the 70s and 80s.
to be fair, the churches themselves had been around long enough to realise that end times interpretations are like arseholes, everybody has one.

I can remember a thing going around, that if you ascribed a numerical value to the letters of the alphabet and took the name Kissinger and added them up you could get to the number 666. So it meant that Henry Kissinger must be the foretold beast !
Tbf, the WTS has never said anything like that.

Murder JW Style (True Crime)
by Tahoe ina home remodeling job in england that went wildly wrong:.
a builder who bludgeoned his client to death with a hammer in a row over her new extension has been jailed for at least 15 years for murder.. peter norgrove killed sharon gordon at her home on 20 july last year.. her daughter rhian brown said norgrove acted like a "wolf in sheep's clothing" after earning her trust at the church they attended in dudley.. wolverhampton crown court heard he led the jehovah's witness service the same night he killed mrs gordon.. he repeatedly lied to her about the work he was doing, which took 15 months instead of six weeks.. .
"he didn't have the experience to be doing the work he was doing," miss brown said.. "he took full payment for the extension in advance, which we believe to be more than ÂŁ30,000.".

A shocking, shocking account. Many of us have used a builder because he is a âbrotherâ and we believe he will therefore do a good honest job. My experience has not always been good. But this is just terrible.
Britainâs Daily Mail , in their typical fashion make more of it

Is a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses marries a disfellowshipped person, what is the outcome?
by EdenOne inhello all.. i need a quick answer, and also a solid reference in the literature, please.. if a jw marries an unbeliever, there is reproof, it's frowned upon, it's disloyal, there will be loss of privileges, etc, but there's no other more serious consequences.
but, in a scenario where two people are free to marry, but one is a baptized jw and the other is disfellowshipped / disassociated, what are the consequences?.
thanks for your help.. r..

Shepherd The Flock ,
â âUnnecessary Association With Disfellowshipped or Disassociated Individuals: Willful, continued, unnecessary association with disfellowshipped or disassociated nonrelatives despite repeated counsel would warrant judicial action.ââ
We know that judicial means that it can result in d/f . Marriage would be the ultimate association. Definitely grounds for d/f

Shows that there is a need to push the Ministry. The end of counting time must mean that they inevitably do less.., I would.

Can you openly express doubts in the congregation these days?
by Elena ini know of a lovely old sister who has been a jw for several decades now who openly expresses doubts about jw interpretations.. she does it in such a lovely way and everyone loves her.
she is such a sweet old soul, makes everyone happy around her.. she has said things like- even if we have got it wrong about this and that i still believe the bible is gods wordâ.
she answers up regularly and she goes on ministry groups but like most of us she is definitely jwlite, we donât really do door to door work anymore.

It depends who you are and how you say it. A âdear old sisterâ they have known for years is pretty safe but anyone newer who comes over argumentive may be slapped down.
If you are smart today, there is so much that they admit they donât know, that it should be possible to question what they may change next..

Conscription FEARS to END? Jehovah's Witnesses in EUROPE?
by raymond frantz inhttps://www.jwupdates.com/post/conscription-fears-across-europe-could-end-jehovah-s-witnesses.
as the clouds of war are gathering fast over the european continent many countries including britain are contemplating a return to conscription and some form of mandatory military service.
considering the fact that the watchtower fought long and hard especially in europe for the right of its believers to abstain from military service it is very interesting to see how this new development will affect the watchtower across europe.

I did read something in the news where a British military bod was saying than in his view the army was too small and would need additional conscription in a time of war . However such a thing is a political hot potato. If such a programme was introduced the political backlash would be enormous and politicians are too afraid of being voted out .
It is all speculation by military types anyway.

JW profit from disasters
by enoughisenough insome time back i questioned about jw making money from doing relief work for disasters.
i found this story on reddit and also noted some of the replies.
it makes me wonder how many would have left their own jobs and paid their way, giving free labor and some supplying free materials if they had know what was going on behind the scenes.

I have no experience of disaster relief and I only know what has been said on this forum. What is claimed sounds like a clear insurance fraud, to me .
a key principle of insurance is indemnity. The purpose of the indemnity principle is to set back the insured at the same financial position as he was before the loss occurred- no gain no loss.
If my roof is storm damaged and the â Brothers â repair it for free , I have suffered no loss. I cannot claim on insurance. If the householder makes a claim based on commercial rates ... it is fraudulent.

The Jehovah's Witness religion has ''Jumped the Shark''
by RULES & REGULATIONS inwhat does jump the shark mean?.
the phrase âjump the sharkâ is a term in pop culture that originated from the tv show âhappy daysâ and is used to describe a decline in quality.
it refers to the moment when a tv show or other product has reached its peak and starts to decline in quality.

I have seen the phrase jump the shark used when the programme becomes absurd. Actually the latest changes make it easier to follow, I.e . No hour requirement, just tick the box to say I did something. Now they are saying â We donât really know â about future events⌠thatâs ok , you can believe what you likeâŚ..
it is still unfollowable but being less dogmatic must be better.
