  Corruption within the elder ranks!

  i have been serving as a presiding overseer in the united kingdom for over 20 years, in my time i have seen the organisation develop and grow both spiritually and financially.

  i have seen elders come and go but more so than any other time i have witnessed lies and cover ups from elders, co's, bethel members which have caused me great upset.

  i do not wish to go into any details but would like to warn people of the dishonesty that has become jehovah's organisation.

  Hello John,

  Your brave post sruck a cord with me because I also became disallusioned by the political back stabbing ,grudge holding nature of the body of elders upon which I sat .It is not what it used to be, I resigned/was removed 3 years ago .

  You would think that you could make a difference , but in fact you are one voice that always gets out voted , and then is beholden to follow what the majority have decided, in the cause of unity.

  It is a sick joke to claim that Holy Spirit has anything to do with it.

  I am afraid to say too much detail in case I could be identified, and so I am sure you also need to be careful,but keep posting now you have started. I will look out for your name.

  Joseph,

  I welcome your cautious even handed approach. We must be careful and certain of our ground before calling any one a liar. I mean, could there be more than one library? we have reference to the Dag Hammersjold (probably misspelt) library but could the WT be talking about another one?

  I too received the standard "Library card " letter ,word for word the same as shown on the net - in response to an inquiry of the WT.

  All scandalls have two possible causes, conspiricy or cock up , I favour the latteras a most likley explanation.

  Why Are We Still Here!!!!

  as indicated by an article on page 56 of u.s. news & world report of january 14, 1980, if you assume that 10 is the age at which an event creates a lasting impression on a persons memory, then there are today more than 13 million americans who have a recollection of world war i. and if the wicked system of this world survived until the turn of the century, which is highly improbable in view of world trends and the fulfillment of bible prophecy, there would still be survivors of the world war i generation.

  however, the fact that their number is dwindling is one more indication that the conclusion of the system of things is moving fast toward its end.. the above is taken from a 1980 watchtower which said it would be highly improbable that we would see the turn of the century.. is it just me or are we all still here in 2002!!!!

  Lets face it, in 1980 we all thought it was highly improbable that we would see the next century

  I can recall an incident around that time, after the group study when sister J insisted that she had a WT mag at home that said catagorically that the preching work would be all done by the end of the 1990's . She gave the title and date. Brother L checked his bound volume . It did not say that. "But my copy does!" she insisted . someone ran her home to bring it back. Sure enough the original issued mag said that statement clear as day , but the bound volume had been carefully doctored to leave it out. Brother L was a bit peeved that his bound volume was not a true copy of the mag and wrote up .

  They politely said that they had changed it to avoid any "ambiguity".

  So much for honest recording of past mistakes!

  Take note of what people say ,do not shut off your mind from the common sense that is in these threads, then perhaps this net experience will be beneficial .

  Incidentaly, what is a "Good hearted person?" typical WT phrase.

  I suppose one that is gullible enough to accept without question the clap trap and twisted scripure purveyed by the ORG.y r

  'Time' not a constant in the Universe!

  when i was a good old jw, going out in service, counting my time, i noticed something strange.. i could drive to one side of the county, make a back-call, and then drive clear through town as slow as i could and then out of town to the other side of the county to make another back-call.

  the total time it took to do this was about 6 minutes!.

  if i was not out in service and was trying to rush, say to a movie, it took at least 45 minutes to get through town alone!

  Whats the strangest watchtower/awake article ever

  whats the strangest watchtower/awake or other publication article you,ve ever seen?.

  i know theres some very strange old articles , but a few years ago there was one in the awake if i remmember right which had a picture of two brothers holding hands on the ministrty.. one was african the other white.. apparently it was common for men to hold hands in this country and was perectly normal for hetrosexual men to do.. a brother who was a missionary recounted how he was shocked when out with a local brother for the first time on the ministry and the brother took his hand in his.. a lot of people though the article was very odd and didn't like it.

  I guess you have to consider the full implications of dissasociation.
  To be frank ,one is not just cutting oneself from the cong. but from ones family too.
  Unless you live with your parents, they will be firmly told that they must have nothing to do with you. The level of energy that they put into following up on this will depend on the individual elders, but the pressure will always be on your parents to shun you. if they do not do so, they risk judicial action against them and, in their eyes, a risk to their own salvation, and of displeasing God.
  Your reasons for wanting to d/a are quite right, although I would not worry too much about State intervention - sounds a bit like one of their own forecasts .
  just ask, "Is it really worth it?" "Should i be deliberately putting my parents into this vexing situation when things seem bearable as they are?"
  Just think it through.

  Baptism Nullification

  several years ago i sent a letter to the elders of the congregation i was in notifying them that i no longer wished to be associated with the organization.

  over time my brother has moved up the ranks and has recently come across an interesting piece of information regarding my case.

  it turns out that the elders never filed my disassociation papers and never formally disassociated me.

  This all seems rather acedemic.
  You have stated your wish to be d/a - the congregation concur with this and the brothers avoid you.
  If your baptism meant nothing to you, then it meant nothing to God either. There is nothing to nullify, and you cannot erase the fact that it did take place
  I see no reason to dignify the beurocrocy of a rule bound organization by requesting anything further of them. Let it lie.

  am i the only one here who has never gotten hardly any shit from the elders?

  true, i was never baptized but i was jw for 21 years (born into it).

  i was able to weasel my way out of various meetings for about a year then i got married and moved out of my parents house and just totally stopped going all together.

  Elders just dont do their jobs any more, like the other poster Iam just waiting , I have told them that I would love to chat any time, but do they want to have a meaningful discussion? like hell! they would much rather see sister elderly who will give them tea and cake, or bro.Pioneer who will tell them they are wonderful

  I have posted elswhere on this subject and I know that if I were them, I would have a conscience about ignoring an ex elder who last reported over 2 years ago

  In your case being not baptized made a difference because you were not on their official list of publishers. In my case, having moved to this area so they dont know me well ,would have a bearing; but it should not- if they were genuine.

  When the day comes they will get the lot!
