  The "Jehovah will deal with it in his own time" line is a standard pacifier to give the rank & file when the elders dont have an answer

  WT article on Esther: dead wrong.

  a few weeks ago the pastor at our church gave the sermon from the book of esther.

  this sparked some old wt memories.

  i looked through my old bound volumes and found this gem of misguided scholarship from the writing department.

  Interesting, I guess that this is one that we could play tennis with, passing comments back and forth.

  Regarding the time period though , a quick look at two or three Bibles shows an agreement with the N W T redering that Mordecai was the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjaminite who had been taken to exile from Jerusalem. That would make the timing feasable.

  The New Strongs Exhaustive Concordance , in its subject guide page 118 describes Kish (5) as a "Benjaminite and geat grandfather of Mordecai., ref Esther 2.5

  i fortunately was never able to have a bible study grow all the way to the point of baptism.

  but for those of you who did, do you feel guilty about bringing another person into what i think of as a cult?

  Yes. There was one young man who went through a lot of family pressure to come "Into the truth" . i wonder what he is doing now? I would really like to tell him what I now know. Perhaps i can Contact him one day.

  There is some truth in the points above about students wanting it at a time in their life. He just fell into it . If only his father had known how to present a reasonable argument , perhaps he would not have done it

  To DA or not to DA...

  just read the posts about dissassociating.

  wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are.. i myself had my meeting attendance drop about 1989. during this time, i found the truth about jws through books like those of raymond franz and never went back.

  aside from my father trying to coax me back in, no other jw (elder or otherwise) has ever brought up the subject or hunted me down to make a decision.

  Why make the elders job easy for them ? If they ever catch up with me I will be d/fd , but I will give them a run for their money and they will have to hear what I say

  If you have family and associates, there is no need to cut yourself off from them, just lay low.

  You are right about God and his having no need to allow the J W S to make up his mind for him.

  hi everybody.. this is my first post.

  i have been reading the forums for some time, but have not posted til now, as it brings painful memories.. my experience with the jw's began in 1967, when my mother was killed in a car crash, and my father married a jw six months later.

  we were a ''blended family''.

  These sad stories always get to me , it makes me realise that things were never great in dubland , at least not for all , and that at a time when I believed that all witness families lived like The Waltons (G'night Johnboy)

  This is sad

  I know of one girl who stayed, and even though she wanted a family of her own very badly, has decided to delay having kids untill the ''new system''. She is now in her forties, and is a pioneer.

  This had me reaching to pul out my old Blood Card. Point three says

  " I hereby.... accept full legal responsibility for this decision and release all those treating me from any liability for the consequences resulting from such exclusion"

  Does not that have a bearing on the ability to sue?

  I see nothing there about being naked. Although most modern women would find it distasteful to be put on show like that, it does not bare bear out the pastors comments.

  Perhaps you could ask him to substantiate his remarks. We must guard against being too quick to condemn, or we fall into the same trap that theyhave often done.

  I would be genuinely interested in any further information..
