"Apparently the GB didn't think Jehovah was going to protect them. The GB cowards wanted a more secure place to live in."

No, it was all about money and property value. It made sense. They made a killing from the sale of the Brooklyn properties, now they have a top class custom built HQ designed for 21st Century and change in the pocket.
about 25 years ago i gave a talk about how when the bible talks about the heart that it is the literal heart and how the heart and the brain are connected by nerve tissue.
the watchtower even stated that some people who received a heart transplant would take on some of the personality of the donor.then all of a sudden the borg changed and said that when the bible refers to the heart that it is figurative.
then when ever the watchtower referred to the heart it always put the word figurative in front of it.. does anyone know why there was a change in the use of the word heart?
I well remember this teaching. Was there not District Convention in the 70's that featured a large illuminated heart on the platform?
To be fair, the Society only picked up what a lot of medical reports were saying in those early days of experimental heart transplants.
the 10-20 wt study "how to save relatives".
according to wt writers, it is the unique beliefs, doctrines are what saves people at armageddon.
but not a peep about them, instead it is love bombing.
Your relatives may be saved IF they listen to you. But what if they don't?
Dubs must accept that the god they love will deliberately target these people, who they also love, with death and destruction. How can they live with that idea?
How did we once live with that idea? I don't know....?.
but you can now enable a jw.org.
skill on alexa and you too can hear the daily text, w/tower material, kingdom songs , selections from broadcasts , audio bible dramas ...and more from your echo device.
what fun!
I don’t know how well known this is , perhaps everybody knows? But you can now enable a JW.org. Skill on Alexa and you too can hear the daily text, W/Tower material, Kingdom songs , selections from broadcasts , audio Bible dramas ...and more from your Echo device
What fun!
could not believe this week's "study" : .
here is a stewart in the stew, that mis - manages, perhaps defrauds his master, and knows he is going to be fired for that.
he defrauds his master some more, in order to avoid working and instead leaching off the former creditors.
WT book ' jesus The Way The Truth and Life chapt 87 ( discusses Luke 16 )
"Only Jehovah God and his Son can receive someone into the heavenly Kingdom or the Paradise on earth under that Kingdom. We should diligently cultivate friendship with them by using what material riches we have in supporting Kingdom interests. Our everlasting future will thus be assured when gold, silver, and other material riches fail or perish."
......
They have long applied this difficult parable to putting money in the KH Contributions. .. it never read that way to me though.
think of how much time and money the tower stole from any who were in the cult.
think of the vacations as a child you could have taken with your families the memories you could have made instead of sitting in a hot bs week of echo talks and propaganda.
they stole so much from us.
"JWs were waiting for a worldwide genocide of billions of people to occur in order to have their ‘paradise’..So, this person has no pity and feels these older JWs deserve a wasted life."
..........
From an outsiders viewpoint you see their point. But when you have been brought up in it , it was not like that at all. Truth is we were all victims, yes victims of other victims. We certainly did not wish death on others although were content to "leave it to Jehovah " We really did believe the message as a fact ..... it was more real than the things in everyday life.
If one is blest with talents then I can understand them looking back with regrets and those who have lost family have my deepest sympathy. For me I am just an average guy who could have had a lot more fun in my youth, could have earned more if I had saught a career, could have travelled more. But overall life has not been bad.
I am not going to waste the time I have left by unbalance recriminations. .. NB I'll still take a few swipes at the WTS where I can though

“When Haugh and his wife, Jennifer, told the elders who oversaw their congregation about this October 2005 incident, they were greeted with muted concern. Then came the threats.
"We were told on more than one occasion that if we told other parents about this, we would be disciplined,
...........
Amazing that this attitude prevailed into 2005, Congs. had plenty of updated info by then.
a thought came to me as i was posting on another topic.
my reactionary mind, responding to watchtower's cruel and hostile treatment of genuine truthseekers who can no longer reconcile with watchtower's narrative was, " may the collapse begin".. but then my thoughts turned to how that would affect my parents and siblings who are blissfully oblivious with their collective heads in the sand.
all their hopes and future joy has been postponed for decades awaiting paradise while fighting off the black dog that is depression.
I am in a similar situation and have long since given up in trying to reach them with logic. The mental hoops they jump through astound me. Orwell’s Doublethink has nothing on them.
So, if the Org. Were bankrupted by Court cases, would it change their faith in the concept of Last Days, Armageddon and a New World?
I am sure it would not
in my experience, there were three types of witnesses.
some were barely witnesses while others were extremely conservative types who followed the letter of the law.
and then you had those in the middle who just went with the flow.. i knew many witnesses who “felt safe” being in a stricter environment.they were actually proud that they belonged to such and such congregation because it was filled with strict bethelites..
It depends what you mean by strict or liberal..
in my experience BOEs that stuck close to the rules would “strain out the gnat but swallow the camel” , as Jesus said. They would point to W/Tower paragraph thus or old Kingdom Ministry such and such to prove you wrong about some piddling issue. However they could be oblivious to potentially dangerous situations developing that ended up in somebody being before a J C for bad behaviour.
in the real old days, 1970’s , I served with wise elders who had seen life before becoming J W’s . We interpreted the rules as guidelines and applied them with common sense . Anything serious was hopefully nipped in the bud by acting quickly and firmly. The result was a happy congregation and “The Truth” ( as we misguidedly called it) was FUN.
