  How Much of the WT Teaching Did You Believe?

  some people on this forum have said that they never really believed any aspect of wt teaching, that they couldn't wait to get free of it all.. others seems to have been really gung ho, believing it all until something happened that got you questioning "the truth.".

  i would say my own high water mark was about 50%, which put me squarely on the fence, trying to decide if i should be in or out.. how about you?.

  I can only say that 1 Corinthians 11 tells us that the Lords Evening Meal was being observed ,and abused, by the Corinthian congregation of mixed Jews and Greeks...... so the first century Christians did not see it as a purely Jewich thing.

  As forthe Gt Crowd observing? Yes that is a purely JW concept since other churches do not have dual destinies.

  Overlapping Generation

  the september 2015 broadcast had david splane explain matthew 24:34 “truly, i say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”.

  his explanation of this scripture was by means of a chart to indicate an overlapping generation.. .

  no scripture was used to show the overlapping generation concept, and as a result it makes no sense.. to illustrate how crazy this concept is, look at the lyrics of the song my generation.. my generation.

  This "overlapping generation" is the biggest load of b### s### ever laid on the sheeplike congregation. I wonder they can't see that! Actually I think they do. They are so indoctrinated that they think, " if it's wrong, the "slave" will fix it. I will wait patiently"

  I have searched in dictionaries and I found not one giving a definition of generation that allowed that teaching.

  The fact is... the time has run out . IF Christ began his presence in 1914 then the kingdom had to be in force long before now . Since the WW1 vets have died out, ( WW2 vets are knocking on too) Did Jesus' prophecy fail? No.

  The only conclusion is that 1914 was not the right date. This whole doctrine of being in the time of Christ's prescence just cannot be true..... and that knocks away the very bedrock of JW beliefs.........if you stop and think about it.

  If I had not quit when I did 20 years ago, I am sure I would have by now.

  the watchtower is thrilled with the amount baptised in the 2019 service year.

  they are reporting an increase in publishers of 103,208 from the 2018 year.. this is what they have posted under global news on their website -.

  2019 service year report includes largest baptismal figure in 20 yearswe are thrilled to announce that during the 2019 service year, more than 300,000 individuals were baptized as jehovah’s witnesses.

  So they baptised 300,000 but increased around 100,000, losing 200k along the way. .

  However, there are around 120,000 congregations in tne world. Deaths are not unusual. If each congregation buried just 1 or 2 people in the year, that would account for a large part of them.

  Perhaps the wastage is not so bad after all.?

  No matter how they dress it up, it is still a grotty job. I know someone has to do it but I came to detest the assignment. Perhaps I was not suited to it but fiddling with paperwork was not my idea of Christian service.

  In my day banking hours were short and it was always a problem to get rid of the cash.

  Good luck to the guys who still do it.

  No Need To Preach In Every Country Anymore

  speaking to a pimo from my hometown yesterday.

  he told me that in the watchtower study (10 nov 2019) regarding “the great tribulation” the elder on the platform said that there’s no need for jws to preach in every country in order to fulfil the prophecy, and therefore the org has already fulfilled that prophecy.

  and that there’s nothing else left to wait for now but for “the great tribulation” to come.. gasps of delight came from the audience.. has anyone else heard this?

  Magnum spoke of Community Responsibility and I have heard that expression too within the J W World as an excuse for what is properly termed “collective punishment” I.e. the punishment of a whole community for the crimes of a few ,or its leaders.

  They say” The people are in agreement with the action , they deserve to die”. This is as bad as claiming that all Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus ! It is a principle used by the Nazis 80 years ago and has since been denounce as a war crime.

  Under the 1949 Geneva Conventions collective punishment is considered a war crime. "No general penalty, pecuniary or otherwise, shall be inflicted upon the population on account of the acts of individuals for which they cannot be regarded as jointly and severally responsible."“

  So The J W god is claimed to be no better than a war criminal on a par with Adolf Hitler or Saddam Hussain.............. As the apostle Paul might have said “ Never may That Happen!”

  Dubs don’t seem to see it though ( sigh!)

  just looking at the pictures in tomorrow's wt study makes me think of the nightmares i used to have as a child.

  and nowadays the pictures are sometimes more realistic, so for any who are truly mentally in, this has a terrible effect on them and even their life choices.

  looking in as a pimo or pomo it seems almost comical that adults would believe in this sci-fi bible fan-fiction, but it's not funny when we remember that all ages of the r&f are being manipulated by the gb by these cheap and evil means.. .

  I must have been an insnsitive child because the pictures of Armageddon in the old books never bothered me at all. As I grew up though there were periods when the whole concept of Armageddon seemed wrong and it bothered me . I would pull myself out of it , telling myself that "Jehovah knows what he is doing" and just get on with my JW life.

  Eventually though the feelings grew stronger,together with disquiet over the exteded time period and my eyes opened to see that it was all just wrong.

  Yesterday's article is horrible. It glosses over the foretold death of billons of people and portrays God as a deity to be feared rather than loved.

  Also, it is so badly written. It gives no reasons for these massive conclusions . The only support is soundbite quotes from scattered scriptures which could mean many things. They do not even supply references to other WT books and articles which do discuss it greater depth.

  So why should we believe it?
