australia has in the last few years conducted a royal commission into child sexual abuse in institutions ,the banking industry , and now aged care facilities .. i think its about time they had a royal commission into organizations that claim charitable status and eligibility to receive benefits/funding whatever.. i`m sure that if they ever did wtb&ts/jehovah`s witnesses would never meet the criteria to receive it.. as they do no charitable work in the community.. if they do any charitable work at all it is only to benefit only jehovah`s witnesses who they consider are in good standing in the jw community.. and isn`t that discrimination ?

I quite agree Smiddy. A while back the. Charity Commission did look closely at them over the child abuse scandals but seemed satisfied when they issued the latest set of guidelines to elders.
When a Secretary, I recall filling in Charity tax refund forms and the reason for our charitable status was simply that we existed to teach the Gospel of The Bible. That was enough ,it seems.
i was only young but i do remember ken and his wife (valentina) being our co. he was a mountain of a man but it would appear from the bbc obituary he was a man of peace.

In reality , the committees I was on were quite keen to reinstate after a decent period of time had past, if they had stopped doing the ‘sin’ , attended meetings and said the right things. NB. I only encountered the run of the mill smoking, fornication and adultery cases.

I don't know the American system, but in the U K , when an elder ,we would not permit a dub to Regular Pioneer if he was on Unemployment Benefit because he had to sign that he was actively looking for work.
In the case of disability benefit they put you through the hoop before they grant the benefit. Personally I cant see how an honest claimant could cope with the physical life of a Pioneer.

i went to the meeting on thursday night to hear my grandson and my daughter give their "talk" on the misery school!.
the very first part on the next meeting that follows the misery school was a 15-20 minute part, with a video of course, on the many ways to donate money to the wt!
