An old JW friend got back to me ,Phillipine Convention experience and my reply.
by smiddy3 inthis link had to do with the experience that was given by a young witness pioneer in the phillipines convention and her take was on return to jehovah .. an old time friend from the past sent me this link a couple of weeks ago trying to encourage me to come back to the religion and asked me what i thought of it ?.
i said i would if she could reply to my 2 questions first fair enough ?
so far i haven`t heard back from her and i will let you know if and when i do.. the 2 questions i asked her was to do with jehovah`s name and the christian greek scriptures ,especially the ki publication the wt brought out ,the word for word greek to english that didn`t have an equivalent greek word for jehovah .. and the other one was to do with the charge that was given to christians ,followers of jc to witness about jesus with over 20 such scriptures and not one saying anything about being a witness for jehovah anywhere in the nt.. over the years she has always still kept in touch, a little bit eccentric and we had a lot to do with her family and mine back in the day when we were all believers .. .and she is not backward in coming forward about having a go at the elders who she doesn`t agree with .. at the time i looked at the link and have posted somewhere else about it on this forum and mentioned i didn`t see anything about "returning to jehovah" in it .. anyway this was a few weeks ago and i was still waiting to hear from her..today we got mail from her ,,slow mail ,even though we have each others e-mail address .and in the envelope was only the wt "return to jehovah " and inside a $50 note.?.

Zoom zoom rules +
by Wakanda in1. and this is most important, everyone listen up: dress up like you normally would for meeting!
-oh, gawd.. 2. if you use a zoom background, make sure it is not distracting, or something crass like prison.
stick with something dignified and subtle.

Bah! Wifey Zooms in but always has it so that her ( and sometimes my) face and our home are never seen. She finagles the settings so her name shows on a black box. We put a sticky over the camera to make sure.
They don’t need to see my pyjamas or my drinking coffee .....

Politically Neutral and No Part of this World....
by Davros innice to be here.
still a pimo and struggling through my fade.
i still have several jw friends on social media.

Yes , Witnesses are supposed to be politically neutral both Nationally and on a party level.
However, living in this world with its 24/7 news media,it is largely impossible to not form a personal opinion about things. I have found that these opinions are kept very private and are NOT expressed to the congregation at large. Only in a family chat at home are they free to speak their mind .
I found among elders that older brothers, who had fought WW2 in their younger days, would sometimes say comments that betrayed a more patriotic British attitude than I had. I just accepted that as personal differences due to a different upbringing.
The bottom line is that the Borg can make rules, but cannot rule what people still feel within. They should not say it though.

E-MAIL Shepherding during Covid stay at home
by wannabefree inmy wife is getting regular emails from the cobe ... you know we have the truth, the world is in the dark, we're special, hang in there, read this encouraging watchtower ... blah blah blah ... just wondering if these are coordinated from org.. recent mass email example .... " .... an excellent watchtower article in the july 2020. it is entitled “be convinced that you have the truth”.
the scripture is from 2 tim 3:14. we are to continue in the things we have learned and be persuaded to believe.
reflect for a moment what appealed to you about the truth which drew you to jehovah.

I believe elders are being told to keep in touch at this time. I have yet to see it around here though.

What is this forum for?
by Kate14 ini'm new.. my first post here asking for a little support was deleted by myself due to the frosty and rude replies i received.
.
i don't actually understand what this forum is for if it is filled with hostile people.. little confused.. why is everyone here?.

I have always found that people of all persuasions and thinking are tolerated here , whether we agree or not.
what happens is that unpopular views will be challenged, refuted and discussed. You must be prepared to debate with others ,that’s why it’s a discussion. That said, we are primarily here as a support group for ex JW’s ,supplying information about that organisation.

Alert: Following blindly jw.org these day / RISK
by Gorbatchov inthis night i could not sleep and my thoughts went on and on.
the result:.
i observe that many jw family members follow the instructions of the elders at zoom meetings like they come directly from god.

Well said Giordano and Smiddy.
There has ,of course been no proclamation from the GB that this IS the end, it is just the understandable conclusion jumped to by people schooled to expect it.
Thankfully, the ones I live with and have dealings with are moee level headed.

Theh have stopped house to house , and the street trolley/ carts, but they word from the top is to witness by letter and telephone if they can... A lot of them have just stopped ,and enjoy the break. The super keen ones however do their best by phone ,and bear the cost, also letters.
That's Witnesses for you!

Arizona Republic: Bisbee man confesses he's molesting his daughter. Church tells bishop not to report abuse to authorities
by AndersonsInfo injehovah's witnesses are mentioned in this excellent article that begins by reporting on an especially awful mormon child sexual abuse case.
the article then discusses the issue of the penitent privilege exemption which former jws working through scaars.org are trying to influence state lawmakers to eliminate.. .

This was a fair point in that articls.
"And, she asked, why do lawmakers allow religious law to supersede secular law?
"If this was Islamic law, do you think the American courts for one minute would think it's reasonable to cover up sexual abuse?" she said."

What a wonderful time---for faders to fade away!
by eyeuse2badub ini’ve been thinking about it for a few weeks and i’m sort of surprised that no one else has introduced this topic!.
what better time than now for a fader to fade?
no meetings, no field service, no elder visits, no assemblies, no convention, and no other bullshit busy work going on.

By Golly, it is different where some of you are ! You speak of elders phoning the flock, chasing up lectter writing , blimey !
My wife hears nothing from her elders. Any info ,like how to use zoom has to be asked for and dragged out of them . They don't care. . When we have tuned to zoom, a lot are casually dressed and we block the camera so our presence is shown by an avatar and just a name... No way would they see US !

The purpose of conversion testimonies and stories
by LeeT ina hunch has just struck me.we get frequent accounts in the literature and videos of people whose dysfunctional lived have been turned around by studying with the jw's and coming to belief in the org (sorry, jehovah).
evangelical type christian groups also use similar testimony stories.here's the hunch:the purpose of these is quite different among jw's compared to other religions.other groups use these testimonies primarily to persuade non-believers.the jw's use them to reinforce the beliefs of those already in the "truth.
"any thoughts?.

The WTS Claim that every published experience is factual and checked out... some of them do seem pretty far fetched but..... I cannot say for sure.
The purpose is indeed to encourage the flock who are seeing no "fruitage" in their locality. They are supposed to feel that it does happen , just not here. In practice I have found many find them discouraging. They feel "why ar'nt I blest with such happenings? " If it happens "over there"... they don't want to know.
Many have told me they would rather hear of others enduring a lack of interest the same as them.
