All depends where you were and the type of congregation you were in. There’s no rule against such drinks .

by Anony Mous ini remember when i was a jw, drinking a good wine or other liquor was looked down upon.
it’s better to put that money towards the worldwide work donations i always got told.
so the best thing i ever got was johnny walker red back then (johnny walker is cheap blend).

Leaked David Spane Apostate Rant? (Upcoming Lloyd Evans Video)
by Jofi_Wofo inlloyd has a reminder set for a "leaked" video that he will be reviewing tomorrow, but it lacks details in the description.
does anyone know what video he is referring to, or is this an upcoming loyd evans exclusive?.
i find leaks exciting, especially if it's something that was never meant to be public and puts some serious egg on the faces of the blundering body..

I sfarted it but the frequent interruptions from Evans and his mates was too irritating. I will certainly watch it when the video is released on the official site, with a lot of interest

For Witnesses Who Want To Leave Fade, Disassociate or Get Disfellowshipped?
by minimus inmy opinion is if possible fading is the best way to go..
-
BluesBrother
I faded.... the elders could hardly care less. It helps if you can move congregation across town .
I have an easy relationship with family dubs so I call that a win

Donating blood a disfellowshipping offence?? What if an Elder needs my blood fractions?
by Witness 007 inred cross is desperate for blood at work.
i considered doing it.
is this a disfellowshipping sin?

"Such a mind bending warped crazy doctrine is full of holes and bull crap."
That may be the case , but try telling them that! In the U K it is not possible to direct your blood donations to one person, it all goes into the pool.
I could imagine them asking "what would they do with the rest of it? "
No matter what, blood donation would still land you before a Judicial Committee.

LOL: just have share a convo I just had with my PIMI wife

If I got into it with my wife we might have a similar conversation.
Stan asked
"why put up with it ? Life's too short."
Well, I tell you that there is more to life than bickering over her religion. Since we have got older we realise how much we need a partner , someone to look out for us when all else fails.During Covvid life would have been hell on our own . She is a good woman even if she needs a little understanding and tolerance.
We could easily have split in times past but we are very glad now to have each other.
So.... I bide my time, hold my tongue , knowing she does not want to know I know. I have learned to let her be, and life is all the better for it.

Any Old-Timers Remember this Kingdom Melody?
by Sea Breeze inwe used to sing a slow song in the late 60's and early 70's that went something like : "don't be afraid of them that can kill the body buy cannot kill the soul" .... or something like that.does anyone remember that one?.
-
BluesBrother
Since " your soul is you" , I was once told "they can kill your soul but they can't keep it dead"
Witnesses do not appreciate that the doctrine of soul-sleep, or mortalism goes way back among Christian groups and seems to have been brought from the old Adventists. I have read that Seventh Day Adventists believe it too.

I would not have summarised it the same as the o.p but today’s study ( article 18) did contain this classic sentence:
” In a similar way, people today need to examine the facts. They must compare what they are taught by God’s people with what the Scriptures say. They also need to study the record of Jehovah’s people in modern times. If they do a proper “background check,” they will not allow prejudice or hearsay to blind them.”
Wow! How can they write this stuff? The record of that organisation in modern times is a catalogue of failed predictions and scandals and is ample evidence of their ‘ less than godly ‘ behaviour. A background check was enough to convince us that it was time to leave.

Do we have any verification of this? The video is a pain to watch and lacks any specific details.
I will believe it when I see it reported by a reliable source, with specifics.

Are JWs still reporting time?
by Vanderhoven7 inhere are some little child encouragers at work.. .
how do they report time since the halls closed?.
-
BluesBrother
Yes the group overseers ring round and put them on the spot to make a report. It must get tedious writing out letters you do not mean, send them to people you do not know, in the knowledge that they are going to bin them.
Still, it all looks good on the report .......

The bus stop analogy
by slimboyfat insuppose we were naïve observers, given the following data, and asked to draw a conclusion.
we see people gather at a busy bus stop several times a day.
at first one person, then another, and another, until they form a group.
-
BluesBrother
An alien studying the arrival of buses at multiple bus stops would soon realise that buses arrive and depart whether or not anyone is waiting. So people wait in expectation , and some miss it and have a long wait.
