Well......you are not supposed to shake hands and hug...... not around here anyway.
( I wonder if they do though?) I’ve not been.!
regarding the governing body update 3 video on resuming meetings in person, i am wondering:.
what is the purpose of wearing masks and to sit keeping distances if you shake hands and hug each other before and after the meetings?.

is it possible that jw's would get so worn out by watchtower 's bullshit that they would stand up gather their stuff and walk out of a meeting or a convention.
i can see a small number doing it..
Realisation can come in a number of ways, sometimes because of an unloving elder , or a new belief that is untenable or just by thinking things through and realising that it does not work.
Rarely however does that cause a sudden break, not if you are really in it. You are entangled in family and friend relationships, there may be congregation responsibilities to hand over. In short, you have to live a double life for a bit to sort these things out and then it is best to slowly ease off and drift away so as not to attract attention.
this is the letter i wrote back in '96 about the parousia.
following the '95 watchtower that disconnected the "generation" from 1914 i began to look carefully at end-time prophecy and soon discovered what i knew were basic errors in what i had been taught.. i was a loyal jw at the time and was still serving as an elder.
i used only watchtower publications in my research.
I enjoyed reading Cofty’s letter which was reasonable, well thought out and supported by Scripture. I agree with the points he makes.
Actually, I see nothing in the letter to justify disfellowshipping . He is asking questions in a polite, reasonable tone .....Jude 22 says
“Continue showing mercy to some that have doubts, save them by snatching them out of the fire”
Perhaps the later conversations got a little more direct?
i was thinking that since russell started the movement in 1879 which became jehovah's witnesses in 1931 never has there been a period in time when all their activities just - stopped.
especially the preaching work.. do you think they will find some obscure verse in daniel that talks about this period of time and try to make a greater fulfillment?
like the 70 weeks of years or the 42 months?
40 years ago they probably would.... nowadays they wish to offer a simple message of , join us and live in luxurious paradise...
They have dropped the prophetic patterns of the Fred Frank era and take the Bible more as it says, except for key beliefs like a modern fulfilment of the last days .
i actually have been reading these forums for about two years now and just decided to finally register.
where does one go to make a proper intro post?
edit: alrighty then, i guess i will do my little intro here.
Bernadette and Joao... Welcome!
To Joao I can say that my wife is still in, too. I know how hard it is at first. They have a lot to get used to and naturally fear the worst. Stick with it , be patient and does get better. Nowadays we get on better than ever.
i cannot find written anywhere that after 6 months without preaching activities reported you are considered an inactive jw.. where is this written?
or is it a non-written rule?.
thanks..
The procedure was laid out in the old “ Organisation Book” , I don’t know what a modern equivalent might be.
When I was a Secretary I used to remove the non reporting publishers cards to the back of the box in a separate inactive section. There they were quietly forgotten.
if you have been keeping up with the news, many cities are seeing an uptick in covid cases.
mask mandates are being implemented in many cities.. many pimos are relating that their pimi parents and grandparents are scared to go back and are having a hard time following the elder's exhortation to attend the memorial, because it might be the last.. a lot of pimi's are saying; that it doesn't make logical sense for large groups of people to meet in a crowded building passing and touching emblems and wine glasses while covid is still around and vaccines have not prevented the death of many who still got the virus.
the elders keep reminding the sheeple that "we must obey, even if it doesn't make sense.".
I quite agree about the risk of Covid, it is similar in the U.K.
To be fair, there has not been a mandate for all to return to live meetings. We have “hybrid “ meetings both live and on zoom . It is my feeling that most of the oldies stay home and zoom in, even the memorial. The person conducting the meetings tries to make a point of including both groups...
a lot of pimos are reporting that returning to the meetings is backfiring in that covid is spreading among the members returning.. post;.
so last saturday was my first meeting back in person and well it completely backfired.
last night i got a text from my group overseer saying that someone in the hall tested positive for covid and that we need to get tested(great 🎉).. honestly i kinda expected this.
In U.K. I have heard of a local congregation cancelling meetings due to Covid outbreaks.
Some large firms and an airline have reported staff shortages due to Covid
in Britain we have over 20,000 in hospital with it , deaths attributed to Covid rose 20% to 1300...
It is certainly not over and I don’t want to be one of the ones in hospital with it so at home we stick to zoom.
the watchtower—study edition | february 2022. study article 6. do you trust in jehovah’s way of doing things?.
15 as the end of this system of things draws near, we need to trust in jehovah’s way of doing things as never before.
during the great tribulation, we may receive instructions that seem strange, impractical, or illogical.
Par.10
“ More important, we show Jehovah that we trust in him by cooperating with those whom he trusts to care for us.—Acts 20:28.”
…….
Hmm. I wonder how those two elders from Illinois feel reading that? They followed directions to the letter , did not report child abuse and ended up in court some years later. I wonder of the WTS paid their fine…

Thank you Terry for an interesting post. I found this point worth noting….
” One of the epigraphers who studied the amulet noted that the quality
of the inscription is extraordinary, and that the person who wrote it
would have been perfectly capable of writing the entire Pentateuch.
Most scholars believe that the Old Testament was written much later,
in Persian times, based on the assumption that the early Israelites
were illiterate. The amulet shows that they not only knew how to write,
but that they were very good at it.”
