I can remember when we (as dubs) used to take the address of any foreign speaking person , or deaf person that we met in our ministry. That would be passed to a central person who would arrange for someone to call who spoke their language. I doubt they do that now , in uk anyway due to Data Protection laws .

Deaf Aotearoa flooded with complaints about Jehovah's Witness church
by OrphanCrow indeaf aotearoa flooded with complaints about jehovah's witness churchkashka tunstalllast updated 15:22, october 6 2015deaf aotearoa has asked the jehovah's witness church to respond to claims of a deaf information database.new zealand's deaf community is fed up with unsolicited house calls, claiming the jehovah's witness church is targeting deaf households.deaf aotearoa has received multiple complaints from around the country and says church members visited certain homes because they were aware a deaf person lived there.
the organisation released a statement on monday, saying it was looking into the possibility the church holds a database listing the details of members of the deaf community.jehovah witness spokesman rod spinks said there was no such database and deaf people were not being targeted.the deaf aotearoa statement was posted on the group's facebook page, and received a flood of comments from frustrated people.one woman said a group of jehovah's witnesses had come to her house and asked "for the deaf person who lives here.
" she said they refused to explain how they had her details and didn't visit her neighbours.another said church members had turned up at her work and asked for her by name.hamilton man royce flynn said he had been visited six times over the last nine months, despite repeatedly saying he was uninterested in the house calls.he said the church members were always able to sign and also brought deaf people along, which lead him to believe he was being singled out.flynn said contacted local police, who told him it was a privacy issue and referred him on to the office of the privacy commissioner.he said he had been been in contact with local labour member of parliament sue moroney.deaf aotearoa acting chief executive jill dean said complaints about the church were a recurring issue.

New blood card
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inall elders just got letters about this new blood card system .
“language-coordinating congregations will receive separate parcel(s) containing the revised durable power of attorney for health care (dpa-e) for all congregation(s) in their literature group.“.
my questions are - why the revision and what has been revised?.
-
BluesBrother
“ Yeah. Put the janitors in place in life or death situations”
I am sure theJW answer to that would be that this is a spiritual decision, not based on medicine. Janitor or not, they say, he is qualified to be my proxy because of his standing with God.
That is the point really. It doesn’t matter about the medical science. The reason they object is based on what they believe to be God’s law which transcends all else. That is the view, misguided or not.

Regarding U.K. Law, I took this from the Gov.UK website.
”When you’ve made your lasting power of attorney (LPA), you need to register it with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).
It takes up to 20 weeks to register an LPA if there are no mistakes in the application.”
NB. There is a fee to pay.
This certainly adds more doubt as to its Legal Status over here. However, the medical profession normally respect an adult’s signed statement of their wishes.

Wow! That is much more complicated than the ones that I remember. Can somebody please explain pages 1and 2 to me in simple terms?
I am sure that 99% of dubs. won’t understand it. The main parts are much the same taking their stand against blood .I don’t see anywhere that gives the option to refuse any blood fraction at all. I know some that would do that. There will be a slightly different one referring to UK law.

Elder asks my disfellowshipped cousin to leave house while grieving for his grandmother
by RULES & REGULATIONS infourteen years ago i started a thread on how horrible my disfellowshipped cousin was treated after his mom passed away and the terrible actions on the part of the elders at the funeral home.. 67. horrible conduct by congregation elders at my cousin's funeral.............. well, here we are 14 years later, and things haven't changed!.
my aunt ( who is my disfellowshipped cousin's grandmother ) was placed in home hospice care.
the nurse told her daughters ( who are jehovah's witnesses and live with their mother ) that their mom probably has 2 days left to live and that they should call the immediate family.. my disfellowshipped cousin and his sister show up in the early morning.

That elder is way out of line , whether you consider it from a normal human aspect or even the Watchtower’s own guidelines.
“Necessary family business “ is the phrase used that allows interaction in these circumstances, plus common sense although some of them don’t have that.
On the better side, I have seen a couple of WT deaths in which the rules were relaxed to allow a d/f child or grandchild to be there and to mingle with us - until after the funeral anyway.

04-2022 Q from Readers on Divorce
by Rattigan350 inany comments on the 04/2022 question from readers on divorce and remarriage.. "if a christian divorces his wife without scriptural grounds and then marries another person, how does the congregation view the previous marriage and the new marriage?".
why does that even matter how the congregation views anything?
they should be minding their own business.. if people move to a different area, the congregation wouldn't even know about.. (if a guy remarries a woman with the same first name, she would end up with the same name and no one would know).

The article said
“ This adjusted view does not undermine the sacredness of marriage or minimize the seriousness of adultery. A man who divorces his wife without Scriptural grounds and then marries another person without being Scripturally free to do so would be subject to judicial action on the charge of adultery. (If the new marriage mate is a Christian, she would also be subject to judicial action on the charge of adultery.) Although the new marriage would not be viewed as adulterous, the man would not qualify for special privileges of service in the congregation for many years and not before living down any notoriety or reproach associated with his wrongdoing. This would include taking into consideration the current circumstances of the previous mate who may have been dealt with treacherously and any minor children who may have been abandoned by the guilty mate.—Mal. 2:14-16.”
………
Stone the crows ! It’s a flipping minefield of apparent contradiction and confusion. I would bet that different Bof E would interpret this in different ways . I am glad I am not asked to explain it.

How many still getting boosters?
by ExBethelitenowPIMA ineither you think the governing body was correct giving direction to be fully vaccinated and do you will keep getting the boosters, or.... if you don’t think the boosters are safe and you decide not to keep getting them then you are admitting that the direction was wrong.. if the direction was indeed harming brothers and sister who kept going to get these injections because of the covid updates then this is a huge wake up call?.
how could this direction from the gb who are i doubt jehovah give such harmful direction?.

“ Bluesbro I can’t understand you decided to keep getting these boosters?
Do you seriously believe the main stream media?”
The answer is Yes. Mainstream medicine has a better record than alternatives.
I guess we had better agree to differ on this.

Most children of Jehovah's Witnesses followers in Japan have been whipped, survey shows
by Rattigan350 inhttps://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2023/03/15/national/jehovahs-witnesses-whipping/.
the most cited reason was “napping or talking during congregations.” others included “answering back to parents” and “playing with a schoolmate.”.
some respondents said they have been suffering depression as a result of whipping.. “i still cannot forget the sight of children screaming after they were taken into a large room at a congregation when i was a child,” a 44-year-old victim said, stressing that jehovah’s witnesses should reflect on what followers have done.. in february, a group of lawyers started supporting those second-generation followers.. in a statement issued on march 1, the japanese branch of jehovah’s witness said it does not accept child abuse.. https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20230315/p2a/00m/0na/006000c.

I am confident in writing that there has never been a Watchtower direction or suggestion to “whip children “

Speaking as one that has been vaccinated with Pfizer and boosted , and who will continue to take any that are offered …… I don’t give a toss what the GB of the Watchtower might say about it. I just use my own common sense and go to the real experts for medical advice…
