  Regional Convention Attendance

  elder friend of mine texted me asking what my rc attendance was 2 weeks ago (family and i streamed it since wife is not well).

  he told me that his rc in the jersey city assembly hall last weekend was low.

  co told them that around 2600 were the total from 16+ congs that were assigned.

  I don’t think it will be on Zoom but they do have an internal streaming system . If you are an approved elderly or sick person the COBE can send you an email link with a code that gets you in to see it . We did that for the last Circuit Assembly.

  From the o/p I am a little confused. If they assigned 16 congs of presumably around 100 each, and got 2600 in attendance, that’s more than 160 per cong…… What were they expecting?

  so the end was going to come by 2000 as documented in the magazines back in the late 80's early 90's.. so how did they get the time off so badly ( over two decades and still nothing) since the gb is jehovah's earthly mouthpiece right ?

  End by year 2000? ...

  The end was forecast in 1914, then in 1925 , I remember 1975 .... this expected end just never comes. That’s why the convention this year is all about patience . Boy do they need it !

  We had Paul Presland back in the day as a D/O . At the time he was a good speaker with an interesting way of putting things . Many years later in a different area he can around as a C/O . By then he was old and pretty much a spent force. We went up and started talking about the old ties but he didn’t want to know us....

  Richard Jessup , yes I first knew him years ago when he was just learning the C/0 role and again many years later as an older man in a congregation having finished the travelling work. He was always terribly awfully British in his manner with an attitude above the rest of us. You could not warm to him

  Is a belief in GOD only found in the Bible ? Of course not .what about all of the other religious sects? Do they not count ???

  the world is made up of many religions christian and otherwise .. whose to say which religion is more superior than another religion ?

  or has the approval of a god ?.

  none that i can think of.. since humans have been on earth god has kept silent as to who represents him , if any at all..

  Since I was working with good people who were Hindu and Sikh ,and a few Moslem at the time of my awakening, that was all a part of my realisation that the WT was just plain wrong....

  Is Bible chronology true?

  according to jw interpretation of bible chronology, the earliest human, adam, came into existence some 6,048 years ago compared to scientific dating of human fossils believed to be much older.

  since jesus validated the creation of adam and eve as historical people and jc’s own lineage is traced all the way back to adam, bible chronology is certified as true and there must be something wrong with scientific dating.

  what proves scientific dating as accurate that humans are much older than what bible chronology says?.

  The Bible does not really provide chronology, only in certain cases where it states a time period for something.

  Nowhere does it say that Adam was formed around 4000 years before Christ came. It does give ages of some people and age when they produced a child, but was that intended to be a complete record of mankind ? Are the numerologists reading more into it than they should?

  im not an atheist, makes no mathematical sense, nor does the buy(more) bull(shit) god make any logical sense... maybe a deist on my best day, in the end you cannot get something from nothing, paradox if you ask me... but in reality i just dont care.

  while in, and moving out of the cult, its like a roller coaster, emotionally, yet, for me, over time, i just take it one day at a time, and if appeasing some special deity is required, well i guess i failed.

  The o/p asked why people may retain Christianity after seeing through the falsehood ofthe WT.?

  I have done that, simply because what I can see wrong about the WT does nothing th shake my basic belief in Christianity. I took exception to the doctrine that only JWs were acceptable and the time scale shows the 1914 to be unbelievable now... later on other man made teachings of theirs became obviously wrong.

  Why should that shatter my belief in God? No reason to. I have no wish to debate with the diehard atheists on here , each one is entitled to their views and there is no reason to fall out over it.

  i'm sure this will vary between jw to jw, but their choices are:.

  1) they won't watch/read either.. 2) they will only allow lotr, not hp.. 3) they will only allow hp, not lotr.. 4) they will allow both.. in my experience, 3 never happens and 2 happens the most.

  with the similar theme of magic, the occult, fantasy and monsters, i wonder what lets them think one is okay and the other is not.

  In my household the sincere dubs love LOTR but denounce Harry Potter as demonise.

  I enjoy LOTR but because of the above I have never seen Harry Potter, not that I really wanted to. This is not a universal view among dubs , I have had a bro. Tell us how “dangerous “ it is to watch LOTR .

  It is one of those things that ,thankfully, are left to a “ Christian conscience “

  Thank You Journeyman for that link to Mike Seidler’s online obituary. The picture it gives of a warm heated fun loving person is not what I remember. He was rather cool and businesslike with us . Him and his wife were not the most popular C/O couple by a long way.. Still I guess there was more to him ........

  George , this Circuit has had Sean Smart . It shows I am getting old because he looked very young to me..

  I heard about Mike Seidler , I never rated him highly as a C/O... and his wife even worse. Still that was a long time ago . I suppose I should be sorry for her loss.
