That article well and truly belongs in the past. It was the sort of thing we giggled at and ignored at the time. Mind you it does make a fair point about the loss of one’s mental arithmetic ability. As a young man I could add up a list of figures in my head quite happily. Now ? …… no chance.

The “Evil Slave” is an anachronism that belongs in the past. The Watchtower no longer teaches that it is a real thing .. It is a phrase that you will not hear in today’s Organisation.
Also, They changed the wording of the NWT so that the verse no longer reads that we are mentally diseased. That too has hit the dust.

Members of congregation know it’s not true
by Mikejw inwe have lonely old folks and even some not so old.. they know the gb are not who they claim to be.. but they stay in the congregation because they are lonely.
i wonder what percentage of jws this is the case, i would guess a lot.

Some , perhaps but the majority of long time dubs get beyond thinking of that . After many decades and social exclusion from the real world, that is no longer an issue… it is a part of them ,they cannot imagine life without it . In a way they don’t care any more because they are so wrapped up in following the ‘slave’ that it the question no longer matters.
There was an old maxim that used to be common.. they said “ it is better to be wrong & inside the Truth than to be “right outside “ it ….

So a JW can date an unbelieving person...

the only repercussions are that the individual who is aware of it can decide to "mark" them and not go to the local club or bar with the individual, but they are still obligated to go door to door in the ministry with them, and even speak to them at the kn as if nothing is wrong and not feel obligated to tell anyone else?
this is crazy.. so they are also basically saying that a person can carry on a romantic (but none sexual) relationship with an unbeliever and still go out in service and participate in meetings?

Well, it seems to be a matter of a congregation lottery , as to where you are and how they view it.
My brother in law’s sister , so a sort of relative, lived in the North of England . Backin the day she courted and married a “worldly “ man . He was tolerant of her faith and they lived , had children and by now may be dead. I have lost touch.
She remained in the congregation and enjoyed a good relationship with JW family….
Another sister I knew originally divorced her husband from the world .Eventually she remarried a JW brother but later on he died. She then surprised everyone by remarrying husband No. 1 . I guess she was counselled but remained a sister in good standing.
So it is all a bit of hit or miss, depending on your local B of E.

I don’t really care about beards but I had to take a look at Uncle Sam’s . Some look good and others don’t - and this one doesn’t in my opinion… Uncle Remus , Father Christened… the similarities abound… oh well. I am sure that is all they will remember from the video never mind what he said.
I know several older , unwell dubs that will not be happy at the exhortation to attend in person… They feel that the ones who cannot are looked down on. I know he briefly said at the end that they could still stream but …….
It is wrong that the JWs are so persecuted in Putin’s Russia ..they should not have to endure that .
