I believe that they would be more tolerant today, in fact they should have been back then . I have known and befriended a bro with a long ponytail. They disliked the hair but kept the bro. Re the Patois translation… I read that it is an important part of Jamaican culture and over there taken seriously..So, if it reaches people they will do it.

so this is from the brand new watchtower study edition of june 2025 which has just been posted on jw.org .under the title: modestly accept what you do not know, a let’s read paragraphs in question 4 &5: “read matthew 24:36. we do not know when the end of this system of things will come.

even jesus, while on earth, did not know the ‘day and hour.’ he later told the apostles that jehovah, who is the great timekeeper, keeps the timing of certain events ‘in his own jurisdiction,’ or authority.

Having now read the article, we should note what they still maintain. Para. 7 :

” We do well to focus on what we do know—that the last days began in 1914.

Jehovah has provided Bible prophecies that not only pinpoint that year but also describe in detail the conditions that have prevailed since then. As a result, we are convinced that “the great day of Jehovah is near.”

So although they know not when exactly, the day is still “ near” . So the pressure to preach is the same . After all , whatever the “ day and the hour” it will be soon.

Personally, I am glad that they are now admitting that they do not know. It is better than making things up.

for years and years growing up in this cult, i had to constantly hear from my parents, from the stage, in the literature, about "keeping your eye simple", not being "materialistic", not "having a showy display of one's wealth.

" of course, this never seemed to apply to the wealthy business owning elduhzzzz who ran and lorded it out over the congregations, but i digress.

I believe it was well meant. Unlike some, I have never seen them as money grabbing scammers. But, so what, it was still wrong and we all made life decisions based upon what they said .. They claimed to be directed by Holy Spirit and they let us down..

feb broadcast they have a drama about someone who works with a colleague who is gay.. they actually make it sound like the jws are the only ones who support him and is tolerant of him and everyone else is against him🤣.

after all these years they try gaslighting and saying we are the ones who are tolerant and everyone else is not!!!.

you couldn’t make this up.. after this monumental u turn now, what about all the gay people who were born in’s who have been shunned by their own family?.

Had a look at this on the website and, yes it presents a softer view of gay people. The point is clearly made that they reject the behaviour, not the person. It presents the view of “ worldly” people as being intolerant and treating the gay man rudely. That may be the case in some places but my experience of working in a large office block was just the opposite.
