I'd like to introduce myself
by Alpheta ini'm "alpheta".
i've been reading here for the past few weeks, but have visited from time to time over several years.. short history, i started studying in 1993, was baptised in 1996, and succinctly and with much planning disassociated myself in october, 2003.. i don't believe i have any lasting psychological damage or issues, but i was curious about the state of the wtbts (or whatever they go by these days), and i found your site and a lot of information that, i have to say, i found shocking at first like - oh my goddess, they really did that?
- kind of thing.. anyway, nice to have read your posts and i really enjoy the sense of community here.

Elderly British lady gets in trouble with police over JWs sign
by Euphemism ina woman has been told by police that she must remove a sign on her garden gate that reads "our dogs are fed on jehovah's witnesses" because it is "distressing, offensive and inappropriate".
jean grove, a pensioner, has displayed the sign for 32 years.
her late husband, gordon, put it up after members of the church banged on their door on christmas day 1974..

Did any of you ever try to "un-do" a potential conversion?
by whyizit ini can see from this forum that many jws took quite awhile to decide that the wts was not the "truth" after all.
some stayed in, even after making that decision, for various reasons.
did any of you ever come to the conclusion that some of the things you were teaching to others were not biblical, and then try to dissuade prospective converts to discontinue their study?

no unfortunately but strange thing this weekend out of the blue, my older brother who has been what I like to call a "side-line JW" for over 35 years and was part of the family that continued for many of those shunning me because I am DF. Some how found me through my AOL- IM name??! Nice conversation letting me know that he was DF recently due to a divorce and a new marriage to a non-JW!
NOW he has suffered the beginning rath of our *believing* step-mom who has a nasty habit of writing all of us siblings to tell us that we are "going to hell"??? and what bad people we are now that our (all of us) *unbelieving * mates seduced us away from the religion??!!

Looking for sources as to number who left JWs from 1975 to 1980
by cabasilas ini'm looking for sources as to the number of jws who left the organization from 1975 to 1980. i realize that the information can be extrapolated from the published statistics but i'd particularly like to find a citable source that gives the information, especially from the news media.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh they found a reason to DF me around that time! 78-79 * pregnant out of wedlock* I think? or maybe it was the fact that the doctors gave me blood when I was unconcious from losing blood during childbirth?? I`m evil, shame on me! right?!!!

A heartfelt warning to parents
by Stealth453 inyesterday, at 5 in the afternoon, my 17 year old son was swarmed and beaten by a gang of 6 young males.
in broad daylight, on the busiest corner of the city, in front of his horrified girlfriend and about 300 passers-by.
he is in the hospital with head injuries.

wow! I pray for your son`s full recovery Stealth. This is a parents worse nightmare, any of our children getting seriously hurt. My heart goes out to your family I have a 15 year old that I worry about, we live in a pretty laid back area though. He was getting harrassed last year at school from a couple bullies, now he`s like 6`ft. and 190 lbs.!!! let`s see who bothers him now.

What strange things do your pets like to eat?
by Lady Lee inwhen i was a kid we had a small dog that loved spaghetti with tomato sauce.
he was our witness dog that would sit near the table and wait until after the prayer to start begging for food.. the two cats i had for 12 years loved some really odd things.
i was peeling corn on the cob tonight and missed having them pester me for raw corn niblets.

Oh it`s a huge relief to see that my cats aren`t the only strange ones out here!! I have a cat that will eat mini marshmallows, ice cream, yogurt. I have another one that likes cheetos too, and cheese crackers,& anything chicken. She could be in total cat nap heaven and let one of us start cooking chicken, or bring takeout chicken into the house and all of a sudden she`s there at your feet meowing! spicy, grilled, fried doesn`t matter how it`s prepared she knows it`s chicken! The first kitty I mentioned is also an ice fan she will come from a different part of the house if she hears you getting ice she`s right there waiting for any that have dropped to the floor so she can bat it around the floor. I swear this cat is playing hockey with me, she will hit it so it comes to my feet, then I hit it back to her and when she hits it back to me she meows real proud like she`s accomplished something this can go on for awhile, very entertaining!!
