We used to have some say "if you can go to the mall you can go to the hall" and "if you can sit at home you can sit at the hall". MORONS! -

How do you feel about religion as a whole?
by FatherFirst init just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

My spouse always said that religion as a whole is a hole. -

Take subway to work? Count your time!
by ShirleyW ini was sitting next to a sister this evening who during the whole ride she had one of those plastic folders that holds the mags and pamphlets, she had both spanish and english and was holding the folder out in front of her until she got off the train.
i asked her if she was counting her time, she said yes (of course she asked how do i know about that).
she said it's not easy talking to the people in the station (seemed like she meant standing with the trolley or just the mags) because sometimes people say things that aren't nice, so she counts her time on her daily commute.

I knew of jw's that would place literature in their cars rear window when on vacation and count that as time. These people are unbelievable. It's all about appearances and what others in the hall think of them. -

Discussion with my wife
by New day ini had an interesting conversation with my wife today.
she revealed that she had been deeply hurt by bros and sis reactions to her as she has not been to meetings for a while due to physical and emotional probs.
when she meets jws in the street they cannot cope with her and are often very cool towards her.

The lack of love was what started my questioning things. They claim to have unconditional love but we know otherwise. When they ask you how you are doing they really don't want to know. It's just something to say. The way my own sister treated myself and my spouse was what sent me out of a Kingdom Hall for the last time. Best thing I've done was walk away from their bs. -

Hotel Caifornia, Stairway to Heaven, Saturday Night Fever
by Butyoucanneverleave indoes anyone remember those 2 songs and that movie specifically being mentioned in the watchtower?
they were"bad" and should be avoided.
it had to be in the late 70's or early80's.

I knew of an older anointed couple who went to go see ET. A bunch of witnesses went together to go see it. The women got up and left the movie declaring loudly that ET was a demon. Apparently anything and everything that is out of the ordinary is a demon. -

We did live through some insanity! Years later when I was old enough I watched SNF. I wondered what all the commotion was about. Why it was so bad. Hotel California is still one of my favorite songs. As you can guess by my username. -

Thanks everyone for welcoming me. Truth be told I've been reading this board for years. There was an incident with my sibling and my father last night that prompted me to join this board. I just had to vent. I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who goes through this stuff dealing with the effects of this crazy cult. -

I was raised in the "lie" since the age of 4. I finally "came to my senses" about 6 years ago and walked away but still have family in. The ones who are still in are so brainwashed by this cult. My father especially. We have not spoken for years. But he'll go to the prisons to convert the "worldly". Yet turn his back on some of his children. This religion has made me the most frustrated that I've ever been these last few years. -
