We were always counseled to not marry during the bloom of youth because we were not yet mature enough to understand the implications. How do they explain this? -

Just remembered a conversation I had with my father.
by Butyoucanneverleave inwhen i started my fade i called my father to talk to him about some stuff that was bothering me.
i got absolutely nowhere.
he read matthew 24:45-47. i finally asked him that if the governing body asked him to jump off of a bridge would he do it.

Mothers day makes me emotional because mine is no longer with me. My father is my only parent and for him to turn his back on me hurts. I wish he was the one who died instead of her. I know that sounds horrible but she would not shun me. She said that she would never turn her back on her children. -

I finally asked him that if the governing body asked him to jump off of a bridge would he do it. I asked him this 3 times. And 3 times he replied "we'll have they ever". He just could not say no. He finally told me that nothing would come between him and Jehovah. Except a cult that makes him shun his own child. We haven't talked in years. It's so sad. Cognitive dissonance is a powerful thing. I know . I had it for years. I'm a stronger person now. -

The present Governing Body will rule the U.S.A.
by John Aquila ini havent gone to meetings in about 1 year and a half.
one of my neighbors who is a jw-lady told me that the co on the last visit said that its very likely that right after armageddon (which is just around the corner) the present governing body members will be in charge of the united states since they are familiar with the culture.
and that the apostles and early christians will be in charge of areas like china.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! I only saw 1 black guy in this video. Apparently this cult basically caters to stupid white people. I still can't believe that I ever was a part of that nonsense. -

Who REALLY believed in the idea of living forever on earth??
by stuckinarut2 inseriously.....even when you were 100% in "the truth", did you really believe in living forever?
?

I did ! I still would love to live forever in a perfect world with a perfect body. But I know it was just a dream. It's a very hard day when you realize that you were duped by this cult and you will die just like everyone else has. -

Something a CO once said.
by cappytan in"there are only three reasons you should miss a meeting.
fever, fracture or funeral.
everything else is a sorry excuse.

We used to have some say "if you can go to the mall you can go to the hall" and "if you can sit at home you can sit at the hall". MORONS! -

How do you feel about religion as a whole?
by FatherFirst init just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

My spouse always said that religion as a whole is a hole. -

Take subway to work? Count your time!
by ShirleyW ini was sitting next to a sister this evening who during the whole ride she had one of those plastic folders that holds the mags and pamphlets, she had both spanish and english and was holding the folder out in front of her until she got off the train.
i asked her if she was counting her time, she said yes (of course she asked how do i know about that).
she said it's not easy talking to the people in the station (seemed like she meant standing with the trolley or just the mags) because sometimes people say things that aren't nice, so she counts her time on her daily commute.

I knew of jw's that would place literature in their cars rear window when on vacation and count that as time. These people are unbelievable. It's all about appearances and what others in the hall think of them. -

Discussion with my wife
by New day ini had an interesting conversation with my wife today.
she revealed that she had been deeply hurt by bros and sis reactions to her as she has not been to meetings for a while due to physical and emotional probs.
when she meets jws in the street they cannot cope with her and are often very cool towards her.

The lack of love was what started my questioning things. They claim to have unconditional love but we know otherwise. When they ask you how you are doing they really don't want to know. It's just something to say. The way my own sister treated myself and my spouse was what sent me out of a Kingdom Hall for the last time. Best thing I've done was walk away from their bs.
