Do you realize that the witnesses believe that in an upcoming armageddon all but faithful JW's will be destroyed?

confused Im a non JW and my boyfriend is one of the JWs
by sun_dae ini'm 21 years old and currently in a relationship with a baptised jw.
i have been studying with the jws for 2 years before we met.
well, i have to admit, i did not enjoy studying with them until about 10 months ago when i became interested of digging the "truth" although it means my sources was only the jw.

I hate to say this, and it might sound harsh, but you guys are probably doomed. The JW's are a destructive Christian cult. He technically should not be having anything to do with you since you are not a baptised witness anyway.. all I can say is keep your eyes open and keep researching. It's sad and its a really tough spot you are in. These people don't have anything close to the truth and if you get forced into baptism your life will never be the same.

When is the "Memorial" this year? Will you attend? >>>>>>
by WingCommander inlong time, no post.
:) i was just curious when the memorial was this year?
is it at the end of march, at full moon, right?

I have never missed a memorial my entire life. When I initially left the witnesses I had intended on going to some random church for the memorial.. but now I don't even believe in the whole Jesus dying for our sins thing. Its tough though because the emotional side of me wants to go but my rational side is saying no. Kind of like a mini wheat. If you guys did something on here I might check it out or something..

What was actually printed about 1925?
by confusedjw ini've seen folks reference 1925 concerning "end of the world" claims from the wt similar to 1975.. i've read quotes from the wt about "the 1925 date is even more fixed in the bible than 1914".
but what did they really say was going to happen?
something about moses was said i think.. can anyone with references post them?

I feel kind of bad but I was laughing while reading that entire article about the history of the Watchtowers predictions and Beth Sarim. You gotta hand it to em, they are AWESOME covering things up, twisting facts and demonizing dissenters.
More than anything I would have loved to be at that convention when Fred Franz said that "the princes had finally arrived, they are here today, at last!" and just as the audience is getting all worked up thinking that freaking David and Moses are in the stadium he drops the bomb that its only the congregation elders. LOL.

Links between Jesus and other ancient Man-Gods
by doogie inrecently, at the prompting of another poster, i began to look into the similarities between jesus and other man-gods of ancient cultures.
i was shocked!
not so much by the minute details shared between the gospels and the stories of krishna, osiris, zoroaster, mithras, dionysus and others, but mainly because i had never heard of this before.. things like: being born of a virgin, espousing the redeeming power of baptism, turning water into wine at a wedding, having an entourage of 12 close followers, those 12 sharing a final meal with the god, instructing his followers to eat of his body and blood to benefit from his sacrifice (the blood usually symbolized by juice or wine), sacrificing his life by crucifixion on behalf of mankind, being dead for 3 days and then resurrected, he will return at some point to cleanse the world, and much more.. now, i know this is probably nothing new to most of you, but i was amazed.

Opposition to this site
by Crumpet ini have only been a recent user of this site.
the other night i explained what it was i was spending time reading online some evenings when my boyfriend is out and tried to explain how it is helping me finally let go of the jw beliefs that i have clung to for so long.
i thought he would be pleased, but he got really angry and now is very difficult any time i try to use the internet at home.

:"sad weirdos"
That's no way to refer to our friend wanderlustguy. Seriously though, I think they just can't grasp how much residual bullshit is associated with leaving the Jdubs. Its tough to even try explaining it.

Leading double life
by JustTickledPink ini ran into a young jw i hadn't seen in probably 12 years, anyways, she was the presiding overseer's daughter, perfect little jw... she's now 25 yoa, she is still an active witness and in fact a sympathizer to their crap but dressed in a low cut top, belly showing, carrying a beer, trolling for guys out a hot spot on a friday night with a "worldly" friend.. she talked to me for 5 mins and told me she had been df'd for a year but how horrible it was, she is reinstated and doing good..... but everything about her looks said she wasn't a good little jw.. i think more and more hypocrites are being raised in the organization.
i wouldn't be able to stand leading a double life, i would much rather be honest and not hiding who and what i am... but there are more young jws, including ones i would never suspect, that are jws by day, and regular people at night.
i think they are falling into the "sunday morning christians" mentality and carrying tons of guilt around with them.. i just wish they would wake up.

:the nature of the religion promotes hyprocrisy especially in their youth.
That is sad but true. I found being honest and playing by the rules damn near impossible when I was in. All my friends seemed to have no problem with living that double life but I really couldnt do it. Now I'm out and they are still stuck in it. It will always be that cycle for them and I can't see most of them ever leaving unfortunetely.
