  i've been "inactive" and a fader for over 10 years, it's been a slow and gradual transition.

  things have recently come to a head with my mother and sister over this and they are basically shunning me now.

  they've told me they don't want anything to do with me anymore because of this.

  WHY did you exit god and the bible when you exited the dubs?

  not all that post here threw the bible and the bible god out the window when they exited the dubs, but many have.. for me personally, i never doubted god or the bibles authenticity untill years later when i began doing a re-search on the bible canon and how it was formed.

  from there, i began looking at the sceptics view of the bible and it's god which then changed my views.. i guess my question is, why did you ( those who disbelieved god/bible upon exiting the dubs)... throw god and the bible out the window before you had re-searched it enough to make you believe contrary?

  if all you really knew was that the wtbts was bunk, what made you feel the bible and it's god was bunk too?.

  Because I finally got a clue! The entire concept of someone dying for my "sins" seems so ridiculous to me now its embarrassing to even think that as a child I believed it. I just did a bunch of research pre-disassociation and confirmed what my gut was telling me all along - that its all fairy tales and silliness drempt up by people who wanted to control others and live on after they croak.

  when i first left the witnesses, i had some times of being really pissed at all the wasted time and the way the people acted.

  i remember one time, my spouse and i decided to just get ripped.

  we did and as we did, we laughed and even cried at times over the issues.

  I drank when I was in the Jehovah's to combat my cognitive dissonance. You would never know it to look at me while I was in the cult, but there were a lot of really dark years of secretive drinking. I didn't even know why I felt so shitty until I got out of the dubs. I hardly drink at all now and I feel great. Go figure.

  i want to say how brave i think all of you are for stepping out of the jw's, even if it's hidden (those of you still going).

  whenever witnesses would knock on our door, i always felt they were ok and just worshipping god in the way they felt was right.

  i never knew it came with soooo much stress and shunning if one does not comply.

  Thanks lonelysheep. Since I DA'ed from the dubs I've had to deal with a lot of residual brainwashing that I didn't even realize was there.. but every day get's better.

  I gotta say though, when I think of you trashing on EvilForce as some disgusting gay abomination (according to YOU) and posting pics of Mormon's "magical underware" to piss Qcmbr off while you laughed your ass off I don't think you were being too considerate of other people's feelings..

  You guys should totally check out a new game called "Fear" for PC. It's a first person shooter, and its the most frightening game Ive ever played (including Doom 3). You'll need a high end graphics card though.
