its time to leave.

i have had all the answers i need to make a firm decision.

thank you so much everyone for your replies, for talking to me over the last few weeks and for some of the humour.. i believe the jws are right and that they have the truth.

Yeah.. whatever. I read all you great people taking the high road and it really chokes me up. People that have been molested by others in the congregation, had to watch family members and friends die because of the blood policy, been shunned by lifelong friends and family.. and here you are wishing the best for someone who has heard and learned the real truth about the truth and how f**ked up the doctrines are and is STILL going to become a party to the filth to give herself peace of mind.

YOU people are the BEST.

while mostly those on the "experiential side" of the debate are content to share their experience without imposing it on others, sometimes the appeal to "experience" sounds like a subtle way of disqualifying the comments of "intellectuals" who cannot know what they are speaking about as long as they haven't got the "right experience".. i remember once discussing that with a welsh evangelical lady: she complained that pentecostals and charismatics in her neighbourhood dismissed her views because she was not "baptised in the spirit" according to their definition of the term.

i pointed to her that her fellow churchgoers were doing exactly the same thing when they dismissed the views of "unbelievers," or traditional believers who didn't claim to be "born again" in the evangelical style.. here the issue of qualitative or quantitative appraisal of religious/spiritual experience steps in.

I think we have no choice but to admit we've hit a crossroads here. There's no way you could convince me that God has chosen you or anyone else for that matter to get a special vision and the rest of us have to just suffer (apart from showing me the apparition).. and there is no way I could convince you that it never happened. Correct?

Hey Little Toe, I wasn't trying to discredit your experience or anything, its my own issue I guess. Im not at all upset with people who have those sorts of things happen to them.

Do you guys know of any good drugs to use to induce spiritual experiences? Seriously, lets hear some drug stories.

These people are nuts. I've been guilted into destroying hundreds of dollars worth of cd's. Every time I would destroy them I would feel like a moron and within 6 months go out and buy them again.

I knew some guys that claimed that an AC/DC (anti christ, devil's child) cd floated in mid air around their house at random occasions until they decided to burn it. I've heard so many people claim they had spirit attacks in that org.. well thats for another thread I guess.

The only thing I have with people who have supposedly had these experiences is: why the hell can I not have one? I would like to know there is an afterlife or something too! If there is no evidence proving that there is a diety then why do you guys get to have them and we can't?? I have prayed and prayed in the past for something to give me faith and it never came. I feel like I have no choice but to come to conclusions based on evidence and become agnostic. There is nothing else I can do, I have no faith and I can't get any as much as I've tried.

well the big day is finaly upon me.i know i have'nt been posting these last few day's i been in a lot of pain,to sit and my pc, so i just wanted you all to know that it will be at least 3 weeks until i get home.i will be thinking of about all of you and my son has promised me that he will update every few days here

Man that Revelation book has got to be the biggest load of crap EVER. Are you serious that they said some shit about a resolution in the 30's being a 'trumpet blast' from Revelation?? Its been so long since I read that I can't remember the details. I do know that that book was the beginning of the end of my WTBTS career. There was so much crap in there I couldn't take it.
