or for that matter, if a candidate didn't believe in god or belonged to a sect or was a believer in islam.....would you be leery?

Why??? It would be gods will, part of his plan.

This sounds like a baptist. I was once a baptist and they tried to tell me that God decides who is president ! I was pissed to say the least so I asked everyone of them in the Sunday school class that this was brought up in. I said that if everyone here believe that God decides who is our leaders then right now reach into your wallets and pull your voters registration card out and rip it up because if God decides who is going to be president then we really do not need to vote Do We ? Well none of them complied to my request. Go Figure !

Absolutley ! No cult religion needs to run my country, Mormons are no different than the witness and if a leader was into Islam ? That too would be out of line for our country. This country was founded on God the father and the Son Christ, not on Budda, Alla or whatever or whoever.

Anyone getting snow?

it just started to snow here at around noon.

Oh hell no I never doubted my getting out and far away from it. One of the smartest things I ever done and I pat myself on my back for removing myself from them.

Life and times of Metaspy

i am going to tell my story, it will probably be the dumbest thing to do.. especially since i am trying to fade.

however, recently i have decided that i need to get.

Yep I have been told things like this, not with a minor but I was out in service with my study brother and he asked me what I look forward to most in becoming a witness. I told him that one thing I was looking forward to was a good christian wife. He told me that I would not qualify for a wife as I was living on a disability payment from suffering an aneurysm almost a year earlier.

What was odd to me is how many men are staying home and pioneering in the field service and their wives are out working everyday. I got pissed none the less and that was the beginning of my getting out.

Why have things changed?

according to the old testament, yahweh/jehovah regularly and violently made himself manifest.. according to the new testament, there were miraculous works performed to prove that the messiah was who he said he was and that his followers were authentic.. why are there no such public manifestations of jehovah/yahweh/jesus/holy spirit today?

i say public because some individuals describe very personal experiences detailing some sort of miracle or divine intervention in their lives, most often at a low or desperate point.

i have no interest in discounting such personal experiences.

Simply put, Jesus is the opening and the closing, when he came and died for us it was the fullfillment of all things. No prophets no visions are needed today. Today all we need is the Lord Jesus and to follow his two laws, to love God and your neighbor.

i know there is a lot of buzz due to the nbc story.

i thought i'd share my experience as an elder dealing with abuse.. i attended 23 different congregations in my life and served as an elder or ms in 9 of them.

What gets me is when other religions pull crap like this they are ostracized by the media, but why is it that the society does not get this same treatment ?

i thought i'd share my experience as an elder dealing with abuse.. i attended 23 different congregations in my life and served as an elder or ms in 9 of them.

Hey and then we cannot forget all the women who are abused by there husbands, told by elders that it was them that caused the abuse and to go home and be better wives. Husbands are getting away with beating there wives too, which I think is also just as bad as the child abuser. I have heard stories of wives being sexually abused by their husbands also. There is only one kind of religion that allows these kinds of sufferings, and if they think that these kinds of actions come from God then either God is evil or the watchtower is evil I think I lean more towards the watchtower being the evil.

There is no interpretation required. All citizens are ethically and morally bound to immediately turn information over to the proper authorities.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Absolutely this is right ! Ethically and MORALLY bound. I don't know how a person can feel good about themselves if they did not give all the proper information to convict these creeps.
