I was stung by a scorpion once, very painful it was. I was told at the hospital to just grin and bear it, the grinning I could not do but I endured the pain. I got into a nest of bees once and had to have a lymphnode removed. It was swollen from bee pollen. Bitten by dogs twice and had a tick on the head of my penis, now that was worse than the scorpion. Had several close calls by water moccasins but never been bitten by them thank goodness. I have never seen as many poisness snakes as I seen in texas and big ones too.

Should dubs sun-bathe?
by bother_forever inso smoking cigs is a drug, yea like caffine (saw this posted somewhere recently), so then they say, its a defilement, and cause cancer etc.
by this method of thinking, is it also wrong to deliberatly sun-bathe, knowing full well its dangerous (especially here in australia, lots of skin cancers from it) and possibly not showing respect for "the sanctity of life"?.
someone asked me this while i was still a dub, i think it helped put a dent in the old "faith" bridge.

Christians tend to forget Adam and Eve were naked righteously before sin, so evidently being naked was not evil or considered to be sin until sin began.

Blondie,Seventh Day Baptist ? Is that a new religion because I have never heard of that before. I am a Baptist and do not appreciate being considered a cult as the SDA are considered a cult.
Seventh day Adventist are strictly not allowed to eat pork. I have family members who are part of this sect. We have had major discussions about this and even after showing scripture where this is old jewish law they still believe that eating the pork is a sin. They too are blinded the same as JW's.

Gays and the Bible.
by gumby infirst of all.....i ain't bashin gays here......just have a question.. this morning i read in the paper that the united church of christ has unanimously approved of same sex marriage.
this now is the largest protestant sect who has approved of gay marriages.. my question is.......how does religion justify a way of life the bible condems as sinful?
what is their scriptural argument to justify this action as proper?.

My personal out take on this issue is this.
Yes it is a fact that the bible does indeed condone homosexual activity both with women and men. The bible also condones having sex between the man and the woman without marriage. It also condones adultry. The bible also says that all sin is forgiven if asked for except Blasphemy. Infact all sin is to be forgiven as many times as it is asked for. Churches that I know of do not turn away those who are gay or they are not supposed to because we are to forgive the same as God forgives. We are to teach those about the truth in scriptures, about the Christ and then upon their own exceptance are to make the changes in their lives that fit more to a christian life. This is what the book of Ephesians teaches us. We are instructed in the scriptures to also not judge others as we also will be judged so it is not proper for a christian to judge others for their choices.
I used to be homo phobic before I excepted Jesus as my personal savior, but today I amthe same as anyone else on this earth and do not pass a judgement on others. The scriptures clearly teaches us to love one another the same as God loves each and every one of us.

Governing body GUILTY of wife beatings
by gumby inan ex-dub friend of mine and i were discussing the various ways in which the wts ( governing body) has in so many ways, been guilty of many ruined lives.
i mentioned to him something i had forgotten about......that being the policy the witnesses had in the past with regards to how a witness mate handled physical abuse by their non-believing mate who physically beat them over their religion.. i related to him how my wife and i used to take a sister with an abusive mate back and forth to meetings for quite some time.
many times she had black and blue marks on her face as well as other areas.

What blows me away is the fact that the witnesses brag about how perfect their religion is and how they are the "ONLY ONES" with the truth but yet they change their darn truths all the time by changing rules etc....
What REALLY blows me away is how many witnesses know this and continue to serve.

JW Discussion Forums Have Evolved.... Do You Like Them Better?
by minimus inyears ago when h2o was the rage, some unbelievable discussions used to go on.
as a just lurking witness, i found the exchanges to be quite stimulating.
all of the old soldiers were there, the ones that busted any view that jws "could" have "the truth".

HATING JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
by marianne infrom what i have gathered, you all were once jw's and now hate them or the organization?
do you still believe in jehovah and love jehovah?
i have to admit i dont like, actually i rather dislike, some of the sisters in my congregation and i know that's wrong of me, but some of them really think they are better than me and are quite judgemental.

I was not a baptised witness but an unbaptised witness. I quit attending and cancelled my baptisim because I learned of it's falicies in their doctrines. Anyone with a clear and open mind can see this with careful examination. I personally do not hate witnesses because the bible clearly states that we all fall short of the glory of God. It does not state "EXCEPT JEHOVAH WITNESSES" it says all people.
You can find error in all religions Jehovahs Witnesses, Mormons, Seventh Day, Baptist, Methodist etc. etc. The problem I have is the leaders who create doctrines and legalisms that are not scriptural but created in order to fit their belief. Now the Jehovah Witnesses are one of the worst for this, they feel they have to take a God given right of choice away and they do this in order to keep members from straying away.
I left the JW's and went to the Baptist faith and recently I relocated to another state. I went to my local Baptist church and became a member of the church. I was told many things there like I could not be a Christian and a Democrat at the same time, I was told because I was out of town that I was not putting the lord first in my life, and when I went to the pastor in reference to a lady who had been sweet on me and was interested in starting something up with her, I was told by the pastor that she was a whore and I should stay away from her. This was a woman who had been attending regulary and loved God with all her heart. Hey I was floored and I quit going there.
So I do not think that we here are haters of people as much as we are haters of those who tell lies. We have all been decieved by one religion or another. Remember what Christ said .".One faith, one baptisim" he did not say religion but one faith. What he meant by that was to have faith in him who was the son of man and infact God himself. I think the one thing that really irritates me the most about the JW religion is this. The very last chapter in Revelations says that those who add to or alter these words shall be condemned. The Witness religion has indeed removed and added to the scriptures and this can be proved. I did my homework on this one....
To sum it all up ? I will not by no means be involved in a religion that will be condemned. Now I am no one to judge anyone. And I am soon to leave this evil place I live in. And I will return to the Baptist church that I enjoy the most because of the simple scripture " All men fall short of the glory of GOD !!!
