What Is Your Biggest Regret Because You Were a Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ingrowing up as a witness makes it nearly impossible to deal with the "world", as a child.
constant pressure is put on witness kids to conform.
most lead a "double life" out of necessity.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I keep my feelings about all of this from my daughter, her husband and my granddaughter. Although I don't agree I respect her decisions. Respect is a pretty strong word at this point, but I do respect my daughter soooooo, I am reading all I can on the links that each of you are sending me and hopefully I will be able to turn this into a winning situation.
I'm not sure on the get together because if my daughter ever found out I was going to something like that she would be furious and probably never speak to me again. I'm not sure I'm ready but there may be people out there that are.

Yes, When the hall found out they were getting married, he was banished (I think that is what he said), he couldn't even see his parents or they wouldn't see him (they are elders in the hall). During a meeting with the hall, he was asked if he & my daughter had pre marital sex and he told them yes...he was really out then and was made to go to some kind of class. Once he and my daughter were married it didn't take long to get her to go to study groups.
My daughter and I have always been very close. When she told me all of this I said, "What kind of religion or what kind of parent shunns thier child!@ That is nuts. I said I would think the parents should be his support system to always be there for him like I am for you. My daughter agreed but said this is the way it works!
I wish I would have opened my eyes a lot sooner, I would have raised 7 different kinds of it before a wedding ever took place! You know what the real kicker is, Her husband is wonderful to her (I think, now I'm even wondering about that)

What is "Pagan" anyways?...
by Hecklerboy inwitnesses love to use the word "pagan", but i think few really even know what the word means.
i think most think of the word pagan as referring to some satan worshiping cult or other strange religion.
they alway say they don't celebrate the holidays because of it pagan origins.

Yes I noticed that as well. I also noticed that even though they don't believe in the holidays, they will certainly take the day off with pay as they rest of us do!

Thank you all for your responses. This is the first step in my healing process and just knowing that there are people out here that understand what I am going through is a relief in itself.

Thank you for your response. They seem to spend a lot of time with her husbands family or at the hall. I feel very privaliged when I get to watch my grand daughter for an entire weekend!
My daughter and her husband have never tried to push the JW believes on us but they have brought the watch tower to our house and left them there. I actually read them but didn't agree so I didn't push the issue or make comments to her. When my daughter was baptised my husband and I did go to the hall to see it. I was very happy that she was being baptised, now I am very afraid.
I have always been very supportive of her decisions in life but this one has really through me for a loop. Before she decided to convert she said that she would not make my granddaughter be JW, that it would be her decision when she was old enough to decide. From reading some of the other postings I am afraid by the time she is old enough to decide, it will be to late...I'm not sure I no what I mean by to late, just a very bad feeling about the whole situation.

My daughter was not brought up JW. Her husband and his family are JW's. Once married, my daughter began going to studies and has now converted. 4 years ago my first grandchild was born and is also being taught their believes. Every year during the holidays I about loose my mind! My only child and now my only grand child do not spend any holidays etc with me! I am so lost and of course those occassions I spent with my child are so hard to go through now. Can someone please tell me what the JW's believe and how a person can get through the holidays a little easier. I just feel that something is really wrong here but I don't know enough about it to understand it.
