Cyber Relationships / Cyber Sex
by Lehaa in.
was wondering what everybodies ideas were on cyber relationships and cyber sex.. are they safe, when is the right time to meet face to face and do they work.. have been having a close friendship with another poster on this board for a while, and was looking for input.
if he wishes to identify himself that's fine with me.. i know that a few marriages have occured from people meeting on this baord and was seeking their input too..

I might be naive, but I think that meeting someone on the internet is just as good as anywhere else. We can't deny that the internet is part of our lives. Many people who used to go to a bar in order to meet someone, now turn to the internet to do so. However, I did read somewhere that 53% of guys who hang out in chat rooms are married. But JWD is not a chat room, nor a dating site. I'd rather trust someone I meet on JWD than someone I meet in a chat room for some reason. (hmm.. I don't go to chat rooms.. oh well).
Please take this from me. The distance can and will be a problem,. you have my word on that. I don't mean to discourage you, but I have had an oversees relationship. (I was in Europe and he was in America). I can't tell you how much time and money both of us spent flying back and forth every other month. Then comes the moment of saying goodbye over and over again, and feeling terrible. But time and distance are relative, no doubt. The biggest problem imho lies in the difference in background and culture. It is something that should not be underestimated because this difference seeps through every little thing, I can guarantee this.

What have you discovered on the journey?
by dh in.
the journey being life, what have you discovered that you never expected to... could be a musician, actor, a movie, a type of food, a thought, a realisation, a religion, a thing about your personality or an emotion, a particular song... it could be anything really.... what have you discovered?

When I was in my mid thirties, I realized that I love being alone more than anything. This might sound strange, but it is a fact. I also realized that my paradise is right here and right now, and it made me a much happier person.

Why do people call it WTBS???????
by Wild_Thing in.
.......instead of wtbts?
i always called it wtbts for watchtower, bible, & tract society.
-

Funny, I've wondered about that too.
I used to call it WTS, but after seeing WTBTS on here many times, I changed. I might take Blondie's hint and use WTS again. It is indeed less key strokes. God forbid I get carpal tunnel because I keep typing those two extra letters. Hmm.. I might be able to sue them then. (j/k)

Hi Dave,
Did you write that? Neat story. It's got all that a short story needs. Nice general setup with eye for the non abstract details. If you wrote this and you have more, feel free to send me a pm, and I will send you the e-mail address of the paper I write for. This paper has a monthly short story contest. Although they receive a fair amount of entries, last month there wasn't anything that was worth publishing. Always looking for talent..

Donald,
This board 'moves' pretty fast, because there are a lot of people posting. Perhaps you are not familiar with discussion boards.. it takes a bit of time to get used to how things work.
There are 'pages', and when someone posts a new topic, or someone comments to a topic, it will be on the first page. Once the first page is full, it goes to the second page, etc.. In order to find your post, you can either use the search (which doesn't work for everyone though), or you can click on the "active topics" right on top there. This will bring the latest posts on your screen. From there you can go backwards by clicking on the numbers you see (4,000 something right now). I'd say that we fill about 10 pages a day, so if you want to find something that was posted a few days ago, you might have to go through quite some pages.
If you have any problems, or if there's anything you don't understand, always feel free to send a pm to someone. People are nice here and they will be happy to help in any way they can.
