Jesus certainly does warn that there would be false prophets , who would perform powerful works in his name ...I undersatnd these works would include healing...the scriptures also teach that Satan transforms himself into an angel of light...he will seemingly do good if it achieves his purpose in futher deception of the masses..hence it is wise to test every spirit...a christian is lead by Holy Spirit and the Spirit gives discernment in this area.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses keep records on people?
by inquirer ini have known some people (i dont' know if it's true or not) [and i am the kind of person that doesn't like to cause trouble] who have said that jehovah's witnesses keep tabs/records on people.
all the things they have done like if they got babtized, personal problems/experiences, arguments they may had with people, and just their general conduct as well.
have any people here found out about a "black book" where they keep records on you?

Actually , I was told the details on the files are very graphic ...if for example it's a case dealing with fornication...they make a note of what positions the act was in, how many orgasms...was it one or were they multiple...how long the act took place...
I suppose they try and determine the extent to which the couple enjoyed themselves...so I'm guessing some of these file read like an xxx - rated bodice ripper ...

Absolutely true...they love their records...
Many years ago, back in a local congregation in South Africa, I was befriended by an elders son...he openly admitted to me that when dad was away , he would secretly break into the cabinet where the files were kept and read up on various committee cases...he would give us all the gossip, who had been commtting fornication and adultery , who had had been privately reproved...also a case of incest, a ministerial servant had made his 16 year old step daughter pregnant and he was also caught having sexual relations with his own daughter who at the time was probably around 11 ..WE WERE LATER TOLD HE HAD MADE HIS OWN SISTER PREGNANT years earlier , they had ,had 5 children together...this man had been raised as a Witness!!
Of course when it had come to light that my buddy had been breaking into the cabinet..he was reprimanded, but as dad was an elder he got off lightly...if it had been any body else , I'm convinced it would have been a severe reproofing.
I would therefore advise any who plan on confessing some grave sin to the elders to think twice...it's likely to come back and bite you on the ass...when u least expect it.

I was a devout second generation Witness for many years...fell away when I was in my early twenties, and was eventually DF'd..about 2 years ago I tried to make a move back, still believing without any doubt that it was "The Truth".
Then three months ago, for some obscure unknown reason, I had an intense desire to visit a church I had always been curious about...what I saw and heard just blew me away...there was no uncontrolled out burst of emotion...the bible was used throughout the service..I could not fault what I was hearing. I did not want to leave the buliding ...I felt a presence there, I had not experienced in all my years attending Witnesses meetings..was this the peace of God , that the bible describes as excelling all thought?
I heard a man speak in tongues and to my amazement, a second person interpret that tongue...I heard individuals prophesy and then men and women going forward to receive healing, I personally walked away from one of those meetings healed from a bowel condition I had , had for many months without going forward I was simply in the audience and God touched my life in a very special way that day, without me even asking.
1 Cor 13...speaks of gifts of the spirit being done away with when that which is complete arrives...this I understand is when the entire body of believers in Christ are glorified at his second comming...until that occurs the works of the spirit will continue , just as promised in scripture.

I still wont eat blood or rather anything that has blood added i.e black pudding etc.
Still believe that it's wrong to go to war ...so choose to be a pacifist, however, think I understand the just war theory put forward by some christians.
Deffinatelty believe that Jesus is the messiah...no doubt there..to much evidence in support of his existence, both secular and spiritual...
Keeping an open mind about the rest.

Mentally ILL People : Will they be saved ?
by Lampokey infor the sake of argument , i will presume that respondents believe in the concept of salvation.. broadly - very broadly - i would put the mentally ill in two categories :.
the retarded and the criminally insane.. an argument is made that the retarded will be saved : http://www.gotquestions.org/mentally-challenged.html.
but this does not , imo , properly address the issue of salvation for the criminally insane.. will they too find salvation - because they do not have the capacity to understand the biblical message (although some may believe they are doing god's will) - or will they be damned - due to their evil actions?.

Either God exists or he/she/all that is doesn't - it's that simple..
God is either a social construct ...evolved by us to make us feel less alone in the vastness of the universe ...in that case there can be no debate about who will or wont be saved, the argument is pointless, just as blaming or thanking God for all the evils or blessings in the world would be...
On the other hand if God does exist then the debate becomes the most important issue every living being with the ability to reason and make choices will be forced to face at some point..if as I believe God does indeed exist , then God will be all encompassing beyond anything we can conceive in our finite minds..surpassing all understanding and the judgements that God makes regarding individuals wether sane or insane will be just and right. God after all will see far beyond anything we could ever even begin to imagine or conceive....for me this removes all fear right now in the present...regardless of what the future may or may not bring.

bbc news reported today that islamic clerics in indonesia proclaimed that allah had sent tsunami, just as he did the flood in noahs' day as punishment for peoples wicked deeds.... sad how religion always rears its ugly head and tries to use a natural disaster to strike even more fear and guilt into peoples minds and hearts, when what they really need right now is compassion and comfort.. .
