My sentiments exactly , while they have new ones walking in the front door there are just as many if not more exiting out the back door . It's the same story with every other religion , people are fed up with the lies and hypocrisy . Perhaps the "waters" of "Babylon", including the WTare indeed drying up fast ;-)

JW TV - One Further Step Towards Making the Organization Soft & Cuddly
by steve2 inone of the more astonishing developments within the organization in recent years is the muting of the more "out there" behaviors of this once fiercely confrontational and proud end-times religious group.. members were unapologetically no part of the world and couldn't give a rat's ar*e what you thought of them.
whereas the organisation fostered an outlook of warning the "wicked" world of the imminence of its destruction at the hands of the almighty - and spared no effort in doing so - nowadays the organization is sucking in its more "loose cannon" elements.
in the place of these elements is a sparkling, smiling, airbrushed group of worshippers who parade their wholesome settled lifestyle to win converts.

@Lambsbottom : Funny ;-) just think , I could have spent it all standing on a street corner like a numpty next to a trolly full of WT literature LOL. I lover reading what can I say . I have also read all 6 volumes of the Studies in the Scriptures . Have to say I thought DPA , TNC and TKC by Russell were excellent reads . Highly recommended for anyone interested in BS theology , and why JW's are NOT encouraged to read them .

They wont be wining any TV awards however. I found it unprofessional although credit due on the studio . Lett was as fake as they come. I was embarassed for him . Without being nasty ,he has neither the face or a voice for TV. If they want to improve their image , they need young vibrant charasmatic presenters .

Had many discussions with the LDS. Read the BOM, DC, POGP and many of their mags the Ensign . Attended a few of their fireside meetings , which are similar to evangelical cell group meetings and also church meetings . Although a fascinating theology , its all science fiction ;-) I will say I think JS was a brilliant story teller , that's if he wasnt plagiarising as some have accusec him of doing ;-)

I have had a few awesome discussions with the Bible Students here in England . A few years ago I made contact with a BS elder who lives in Kent , Donald Holiday .Very kind man . He would record their Sunday meetings and post them to me every week , for about 2 years . He also mailed me all 6 volumes of Studies in the Scriptures . Thought that was cool . He told me his parents left the WTS after Rutherfords failed 1925 prophecy, so he basically grew up with the Bible Students .

My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic
by passwordprotected ini first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

Wow, hard to believe I joined JWN 9 years ago . Haven't logged in for a good couple of years, but saw your story which ,resonates so closely with my own experiences. I was disfellowshipped in my 20's . About 5 years ago did an Alpha Course here in the UK and was baptised in an Evangelical Church , which is part of the New Frontiers movement . I was with them for about 2 years. There were always a few things in the church I didn't feel comfortable with , one was their constantly asking for money, also their emphasis on speaking in tongues. The breaking point came when they began to refer to the founder of the movement , Terry Virgo as Gods Apostle . Also the elders where very insular and I felt uncomfortsble with what I perceived as controlling behaviour . Long story short , I came across a video series by Dan Mages a former Evangelical Christian now athiest and thus began my exit from the church . I still believe in God , however have a far more open mind , a liberal theology, and nolonger belong to or attend any church . Needless to say I am also happier than I have been in many years as a result . I would have to agree that religion is indeed a snare and a racket ;-)

Heaven & Hell
by kzjw ini'm having the whole heaven & hell discussion again w/ the wife...brought up matthew 25:41-46 as proof it exists, then the wife balked & looked to the friends for help.
the good news is that my wife now respects the fact that i won't read anything printed by the filthy slave, but the fight's still not fair.
can anyone give me more scriptures of the bible to use?

It is arguably both immoral and perverse to believe in a God that torments persons in a literal "hell" ,
These videos from a non JW source powerfully expose the false doctrine of eternal torment , and the intellectual dishonesty of some biblcal scolars who teach it ...

Bill Cetnar tells a lie ....
by Raphael innot the way to refute watchtower theology:.
bill and joan cetnar make a statement that russell said he spoke to angels , this is a blatant lie and we know what the bible says about liars .... he also says that russell claimed to be the fds and the laodicean messenger, both statements are misleading .
russell never claimed in any of his writings that he spoke to angels or was the aforementioned messenger or the fds , rather it was some of his associates that suggested he may be.. the cetnars also make a number of other poorly researched and misleading statements that sadly bring their own characters into disrepute .. .
