  GOVERNING BODY'S PLAN TO GROW YOUNGER

  since the sect's leadership had painted itself into a corner a change had to come about.

  governing body members were required to be of the "anointed" class, composed of men who became witnesses as adults before the year 1935. this excludes younger men, and limits the governing body to an older group each year.

  few men in their 80s or 90s are up to running a corporation.. during the mid-1990s the witnesses attempted to sidestep the problem by beginning to appoint a few younger men who had earlier declared themselves to be of the anointed.

  We can expect the right food at the right time per the usual. For instance, it was made clear in 1976 that we should not expect Armageddon to come definitely in 1975, and just four years later we learned that this applied even to expectations emanating from Brooklyn and its publications.

  In late 1995, only a year after someone born in October, 1914 would have reached the ago of "special mightiness," we learned that chronological calculations were not to be made based on the 1914 "generation."

  About 2030, once perhaps even Ted Jaracz's new boys have died off, we should get new light telling us that the governing body, created in the 1970's, is no longer needed, but that Jesus can direct even non-anointed men to lead his chosen people. He just can't do it himself, he needs a printing company. What? Outsourcing? He needs a holding company.

  New blood policy

  i just got the newest copy of the watchtower and in it there's new light!

  as it turns out they have a new understanding of the scripture at psamls 156;23 and because of it accepting blood transfusions is now a matter of conscience.

  their reasoning behind it is that apparently it was revealed to the gb that to keep numbers up it would be best to allow this matter to be a conscience decision because too many of the current members were dying off because of this and they want to keep their numbers up.

  As to the letter from a brother, two points. First, silentlambs already tried the kid gloves route of trying to bring attention to this problem without being critical of the WTS otherwise. We saw what it got him, and how quickly the pat WTS answer of 'you should focus on something else' came to the fore.

  Second, the mass of responses to articles about molestation by Catholic priests, including that by Catholics, has called for abolishing the celibacy requirement or allowing women in the priesthood, which would address both the misogyny prevalent in the hierarchy and the shortage of priests. Putting aside from the argument that child sexual abuse is more about power than about sexuality, it is only realistic to expect people to point fingers at forbidding to marry and limiting the roll of women. After all, these policies are simply wrong from a modern viewpoint.

  Likewise is it only realistic to expect fingers to be pointed at the policies of "protecting the congregation" - which quickly devolves into protecting the organization, not the individual members - and shunning, and the bad implementation with the two witnesses rule that essentially requires waiting for a predator to abuse a second child, or several more until one comes forward. These are dumb-ass policies and, like those mentioned in regard to priests, contribute to the problem.

  got more information recently.. brooklyn bethel is downsizing , bigtime.. first, they are moving a lot of printing out of brooklyn.

  and into "regional" branches, perhaps closer to where.

  Seeker, that pisses me off. I know my parents have broken their backs working in that orchard, and are in no physical shape to do so. When I first heard about it, I asked my father when he became a migrant worker, but he insisted he wanted to do it. Yeah, like I wanted to guard Turnersville. Anyway, good business sense means you invest in anything that has a positive return. If its outside your core competency, it generally won't. But when you can't do better farming citrus in Florida with no paid workforce, while the commercial farms often must house workers anyway, they suck at bussines management as much as at prophecy.

  i have a question to toss out to those of you who were once active jw's that are now born again.. i was a "zealous" jw - raised as one and was an aux pioneer, etc.

  my whole family is jw's (elders, etc.).

  Jesus said that the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath. To me, this should be extended to all religious activities. If you're finding the fellowship you need, if you're getting more out than you're putting in, and everyone else is doing the same, then you have found a promising situation.

  Any church that serves coffee and donuts is cool with me.

  In your original post you indicate that Satan's confinement to the vicinity of the Earth is still to come. Doesn't this undermine much of the Watchtower's chronology?

  as observed in 1925 by remigio cuminetti, banchetti showed much sympathy for the work of the bible students and was fully convinced of the doctrines as explained by them.. on one occasion.

  SIX VOLUMES?!? What about the seventh? True, it wasn't really Russell's, but it was to be held in the same esteem. Or since they repudiated it a couple years ago in a study article, are they free to change 77-year-old quotes?

  i wonder how many jws are aware that job centres formerly known as labour exchanges were started by the sally army(salvation army!)..

  should a jw therefore enter a job centre because of its connections with chritendom?.

  they might be demons lurking in the dark corners of a job centre!

  Interesting idea. I often find myself wondering about laws but with no clear path to find out about them. Should I write to my state attorney general about what I feel is inappropriate telemarketing, will I get a reply? Doubtful. I wrote one of my Senators about the practice of banks fingerprinting check cashers even with proper I.D., yet never got a response. True, the web offers some information, but it is usually not localized.

  As far as "The Prisoner," I had seen episodes of the show once or twice, but recently bought the complete series on DVD. Good show, weird ending. I'm still trying to find appropriate application to the Watchtower Society of the phrase "Number Two is unmutual!"
