  BETHEL NEWS: Bethel Elder Arrangement to be dissolved as of Aug. 31, 2006

  here is some news from a source within one of the wts branches:

  hot news from todays morning worship announcement worldwide -- letter from gb being read on 1st of march 2006 to every branch (hopefully we will have a copy of the letter soon.).

  as of aug. 31, 2006 the bethel elder arrangement will be dissolved!

  I would just like to add that you need not be in a bethel elders department for him to counsel you. You can easily be counseled by your table head, foot, home overseer, adjacent department overseer, and even if a bethel elder sees you goofing off in the locker room he can counsel you whether he know you or not. All he has to do is ask your name and the rest is easy.

  They don't have power in the sense of kicking out anyone they choose or making doctrine but they controlled the young boys (19+) that work so hard and play so unscripturally at bethel. These older men will still be expected to keep the youngsters in line -title or not.

  "this bird flu will be the next major pestilence.

  even if it wipes out millions, that would be a good thing because jehovah will be able to resurrect them.

  It's funny because I've heard many witnesses say something like "well, if heaven is so great why not just kill yourself to get there and leave this awful world behind." They said that with sarcasm and a snear - you know the way someone says it when they're belittling your beliefs.

  After we left the door I replied with ((jokingly)) "well, perhaps if you kill him yourself he'll be resurected into the paradise." I had an irritated look about my face when saying it. After the conversation I explained to the pioneer that such comments were unacceptable in the field service. I was still on the body at that time so my word meant something. :)

  how do you do playdates?!

  i am having a little trouble trying to figure out how to make new friends for my kids.

  we've met some really nice moms and kids at the park, library, etc.

  April 1, 2006 WT: You Can Understand The Bible (deliberate lies)

  on the front cover of the april 15, 2006 wt is a picture of a bible with the title, "you can understand the bible".

  now bear in mind, that the wt magazine is considered the more scholarly of the mags that come out, where the awake!

  is considered little more than a cut-down version of reader's digest for 12 year olds.. i'm only including the interesting bits.

  How do they decide which is which??

  ok, i know the notion of pagan symbolism has been beaten to death on this board, but i still have a question about the whole concept.. so, the wts bans pagan elements.

  we can see that in their arguments against christmas and christmas decorations, and other similar things.

  they forbid the use of anything with pagan origins.

  The truthful answer is : The WT decides and the dubs don't really know why some things are ok and others aren't.

  They don't care. They will do or use whatever the WT says they can and they will steer clear of whatever the WT tells them to. They don't put a lot of thought into it.

  Of course, the most dificult thing for a thinking dub is explaining this to someone who is asking sincere questions. But, let's be honest, most people are polite enough not to push the issue with them and the ones who are impolite and force the dub to think this through are written off and the subjects aren't brought up again.

  Do a neutral play area first. Then once you're comfortable do it at someone's house. Usually I invite the other parent in to see how the kids get along at first. I do this so the parent doesn't feel weird if they would like to see the house and how we live. I want them to be comfortable. If I'm dropping my kid off at a new house I ask if I can come in for a minute to make sure they're going to be ok. My kids are fairly young.

  Be honest and tell the other parents you're new at the playdate thing. They're usually pretty understanding.

  Have you looked at the 607 mini page they keep discussing?

  If you already believe in 607 and won't actually research another date then it's perfect. If, on the other hand, you decide to review the information presented and look at contrary 607 evidence - it's sunk.
