When is the 'Cross' NOT a Crucifix!!!
by Gill ini was reading last night about religious origins, freemasonry, knights templar etc and stumbled across a section on religious symbols.
apparantly, the cross, as worn by christians, is not a symbol originally of christs torture instrument.
'...the crucifix style cross used by the christian church was an ancient egyptian hieroglyph and we were simply flabbergasted to discover that it carried one very precise meaning - 'saviour', which translates to the hebrew 'joshua', which in turn translates in greek to 'jesus'.

LT, wouldn't sprinkling blood on the lintel and door posts made the letter pi? I mean not exactly but close. And once the blood dripped onto the threshold it would have made a rectangle.

I found this and am in total agreement. Feel free to answer the Questions.
by jw inregardless of how you feel about jehovah's organization--the true religion, one thing for sure, you will not escape the almighty jehovah's judgement right along with satan the devil and his destructive organization.
how will you save yourself and those who follow you...?
it's ashame that your energies could not be put to a more positive use.

Wow, I've decided that you're fairly odd.
If your purpose is to preach condemnation to those posting here, ok 200+ posts, I think you've done your job.
If your purpose is to bring some back to the organization, uhhhhh, welllll, you're kind of mean; or is it blunt? Anway, you're not showing me a loving path to Jehovah God.

My Wife.... Ughh
by roflcopter ini don't know how many times i have shown my wife from the societies own literature the fallacies of the past but it still doesn't convince her.
just just shrugs it off and says "at least they were humble enough to admit they are wrong.".
it blows me away cuz i reason and say "what if they are wrong now, if we questioned it we would be expelled.." .

Desperately seeking fade
by 5thGeneration in.
i really want out but keep going for personal reasons.. my question: has anyone else during their fade period gone off the school, quit do-t-do and just gone to the sunday meeting?.
that's where i'm at right now but it's a living hell still 'being' a publisher but being a lump at the same time..

Hey 5thGen. I've faded. The longer you are a sporadic attender the less likely they are to chase you down. Unless you have family that will keep reminding them about you.
Good luck.

The U.S. now has over 1,000,000 average publishers - Why?
by truthseeker instrange increase in u.s. publishers
over the last few months there has been an unusual increase in publishers in the united states, but baptisms have been falling.
when baptism rates are compared to the 2004/05 service year, only 4 out of the six months shown are higher than 2005/06 service year.

Blondie, yes.
That's why the society uses the average number of publishers to calculate their gains/losses.

Sir 82,
Thank you. I get it now.
One would think that as the overall publisher numbers balance out between english and non-english there would be a noticable shift in the tenor of the WT and AW magazines.
Perhaps there was a shift already and I missed it.

Why did Jehovah make Jews kill for the Promise Land?!!!!
by Spectrum init sounds rediculous, doesn't it?
jehovah promised the jews the land of canaan that was inhabited by many tribes.
he had the power to give it to them peacefully but instead got them to commit genocide, rape and pillage and destruction.

It's something I never understood and still don't.
The Israelites didn't just kill soldiers but they killed women and children too (as Blondie pointed out). That's genocide (as others pointed out).
Why was there no preaching work? Oh that's right based on the Jericho account when the prostitute said the people had heard of the Israelites and knew Jehovah would give them the land (Joshua 2:8-13). In essence then there was a preaching work. The canaanites had heart of God's greatness and miracles and would either repent, like Rahab, or die like almost everyone else.
Why didn't the Israelites actually finish off the Canaanites? Why did they leave pockets of them? Why didn't the Philistines get finished off?

I'm not disagreeing with you Sir82 because I've always heard that the Spanish speaking congregations are growing like wildfire too.
If one accepts this then the it stands to reason that the english speaking congregations must be shrinking.
If you look at the numbers the average number of dubs isn't increasing my much and if the growth in the spanish halls is so great then the large gains that should be posted for the US are being offset by the english speaking congregations.
I guess this would fall under deductive logic:
spanish speaking congregations growing rapidly,
overall numbers of publishers going up but not rapidly,
therefore non-spanish congregations publisher numbers are falling at a similar rate of spanish growth.

Truthseeker, how did you get the February '06 numbers already? They should be contained in the June '06 KM - do you have it already? If so, can you share any information it contains?
Perhaps the number of publishers that exist are just becoming slightly more regular. Really, they are just teetering on the million mark and have been close for some time.
