The 1995 Generation Change
by sloppyjoe2 ini was just a teenager and have a vivid memory of sitting in a chair doing a microphone for the sunday meeting.
everyone was commenting that it didn't mean the end was far off, and it didn't change the condition of the dead, or the 144,000, or the trinity so we should still remain faithful.
this is my first memory as a kid being just a teen that i ever had a single doubt.

Joel Engardio was writing about the witnesses as far back as 1995. I didn't know that. -

Huge story unfolding at Warwick
by Crazyguy inits been mentioned before that warwick is a toxic dump and now the jw's are suing a former owner for compensation.
well this is huge on so many levels.
one they new it was contaminated back a few years ago so why move your headquarters there?
-

Have to review the old news articles but I thought the previous owner was a nickel plant or something and that the wts knew the land had contamination but were planning to build on the uncontaminated portion.
I will need to read old news articles to refresh my knowledge.

Since a lot of teens in general feel like they know everything already - being a dub can be the perfect thing. What would be better than being smarter and knowing information that 99.99% of humanity doesn't listen to or understand?
It can feed into their natural ego.

Disfellowshipped at 18
by asensier inyou can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.
he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.
we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

Asensier, I offer you a warm welcome and a listening ear. I'm really sorry to hear about your situation with your family. I am glad that you have someone in your life offering support. Please don't let this situation derail your future. Research your witness beliefs, if you have them any longer and then do your best to move on with your life making sure to surround yourself with supportive positive people.

Reliable source - new round of US Bethel layoffs coming soon
by sir82 inwas talking to an ex-bethelite who is still very well-connected to those in the ivory tower.. he says that there will soon be a(nother) large number of us bethelites who will be "reassigned to the field" as pioneers and special pioneers.. he did not give his source, but he is pretty reliable.
incidentally, he was "reassigned to the field" in the last big purge about 7 years ago.. i imagine those so reassigned would be pretty teed off.
let go just before the golden lakeshore palace was completed..

I wonder if the GB1.0 just let bethel get too full of people because they felt the end was coming any time and they wanted lots of well trained brothers to help manage the work in the new system?
GB1.0 didn't seem to be as business and media savvy as this new GB.
As cults go, it's like the org went from a mom and pop shop to a glitzy multi-national in the span of 3 years or less.

The "Final Push" before the GT!!! I think they REALLY believe it!
by DATA-DOG ini don't know if i have shared this with everyone, but there seems to be a new theocratic term, at least in my circuit.. the term is "final push.
" wtf does it mean?
well, an eldub said that the gb are "all in" with warwick and they might spend all their money on the project.

I recently learned a term called institutional memory. Its the memory of a group or collection of people versus a single individual. It seems that the witnesses don't have institutional memory and the GB2.0 knows this. So they can ratchet up the fear and pressure to make increases and then when nothing happens instead of admitting they were wrong they just ratchet it up again.
I guess I should read about institutional amnesia.

Index of acronyms : help for new forumers
by Mary J Blige inam finding a whole lot of acronyms that are really foreign to me and i now have an appreciation for what cult language sounds like to non-culters.
wondering please if you can post your definitions so i can get up to speed.
otherwise, as an indoctrinated ex-culter, i am inclined to create my own new light and swiftly it will be gospel.

How many lawsuits?
by kairos incould this be a "wake up trigger" question to a nosy elder?.
"how many pedophile lawsuits are the wts legal team currently defending?".
how would/could they answer?why should the answer be secret?.

DOC, I think your post is almost totally right. Some of it is exaggerated a bit, like the menopausal wife, but the essence of your comments about the elders being busy and wearing blinders and feeling special because of their title/authority in the congregation is really accurate.
And you're right about the Goodwill suit, because dubs don't shop at Salvation Army.
