i'm finding it more and more funny how every wt article for the public or congregation, including jw broadcast talks about all this "growth" and how fast jehovha's organization is speeding up!
yet everything behind closed doors, insider information, elder letters and sales paint a very different picture.

a few years ago i heard of a story about two jw's being at a green day concert.

Bethel elders...I couldn't stand those guys. Us young guys would go out of our way to avoid them.
The main thing I took away from Bethel: it's not what you know but who you know.
Am I the only one that remembers going to one of the dining rooms on Sunday morning and going through the lunch fixin's to make sandwiches for when we went to the local congregation meeting and service afterward? I would make Dagwoods and the older guys would give me dirty looks. The lifers in my hall would always laugh at the sandwiches I made. I was never sure if they were laughing at me or with me - now I don't care.
I think it's time to troll facebook to see if any of those guys I remember are on facebook and maybe free of the cult. One can only hope.

OrphanCrow - you depress me sometimes.
i heard form a reliable source that a kingdom hall consolidation is going to be happening in the us.
currently they are looking at every kingdom hall to see if they could and should sell it.
any kingdom hall that has not been updated and is in a bad location (long driveway, not in a visible location etc...) will be sold.
It's great to know we have reliable sources. Thanks depressedsoul for keeping us in the loop.

We should discuss the bethel room selection process. Remember when room selection was coming up and every new boy tried to be best friends with a lifer? You see, the longer you've been in continuous full-time service (regular pioneer and bethelite) the more likely you are to get a room.
Everyone puts their name in for certain rooms that are available and the one with the most seniority gets it. So if you have a friend or potential roommate with tons of seniority you are going to live in style. If you are new boy with only new boy friends - you're life sucks and you are going to move a lot.
The only time a new boy could get an awesome place is when they first arrive and the room selection took place before their arrival and someone left or died so a great room is available and you get it - until the next selection (annually if I remember correctly).
It was a total freeforall.
