JW Reaction to Royal Commission Reports
by maksutov inhas anybody confronted any jws with the royal commission reports on the news yet?
i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?
well, i don't know what the rules are over there.

Sad about the past
by Gorbatchov intoday i feel deep sad memories in my brain.. visiting bookstudy with my parents, doing my best giving answers at 7 years old.. doing fieldservice every weekend and on an evening.. i could write so much story's about it.. we believed from our hart and listened to what the organisation told us.. it makes me sad, what a scam it became.. today i can't stand it.. i can cry about it.

Great thread! I remember all the meetings and bookstudies and how serious I took it all. The revelation book was so deep but made so easy to understand by the society. I was so impressed and felt I was a real bible student. I felt pity for the worldly people I knew and would always wonder how I could get them to listen to me. But like a lot of witnesses I didn't really try super hard to convert people because I was nervous and maybe a bit embarrassed by some of the teachings. Weird mix, on one hand I totally believed everything but on the other I was sort of embarrassed and hid the fact I was a dub at work and school.
I get sad because I feel that if I was a better husband my wife would have folowed me out. It is probably not true but it's its a feeling I,sill have to live with. At least my kids are out.

I keep hoping that if the local elder testimony has been so damning that the branch representatives will really put the nail in the coffin. Then the news can report what the leaders of the WTS Australia say and not just a local elder or CO. Let's face it most people these days want to hear from the head honchos not just a local priest or elder.
I am really hopeful that the news stories will grow and expand and not disappear by some other large event.

Governing Body, painted in a corner, now what?
by Wasanelder Once inthe governing body have painted themselves in a corner, so to speak.
if they acknowledge their response to abuse claims was insensitive, unloving and inadequate they are denying the belief that "god's way" is best and risk losing abuse cases.
if they stick with it and say it is "god's way according to the bible" they will be seen as cult leaders and risk losing abuse cases.

It would be great if the Royal Commission could require the GB to appear before them. Maybe if the local branch representatives say that they call Headquarters (GB) for direction then the Royal Commission will continue to climb up the chain of command.

Uh-Oh, JW's are confused by the news reporting... Getting texts from active members

anyway, i've been getting texts from jw's about the australia news.

Depressedsoul you have a unique situation being a mole and all. I can't get my wife's real opinion on anything because she immediately puts up the cult personality as soon as the letter J comes out of my mouth. I would love to know what she's thinking about this, if she's heard and your post gives me hope.

I haven't heard anything yet from the JWs I know. One of them being my wife. In order for most JWs I know to see this it needs to be on the front webpage of MSN, CNN or be a segment on Good Morning America or Today show. If it makes one of those outlets a majority of witnesses will see it.
I keep checking CNN and MSN to see if an article or video makes it to the headlines. I keep hoping...

like me, you make it your business to know what's going on.
so i'm wondering why the wtbts is allowing eldubs to appear in these inquiries in australia??

Orphan Crow said,
I have a feeling that the rather silent King of the North will soon be busting out with JW child abuse cases.
Woe! I never even considered that. Russia seems to have it out for the witnesses. I could totally see them seizing upon this and running with it in their own country. Never even crossed my mind.
