No Longer A JW Brother, I did that too! I made up my own lyrics to the songs but no one ever caught on. It was a small amount of rebellion that made the early days of my fade bearable. -

Elders & Ex Elders
by brandnew ini have a question.....if two jw have sex and only one of them goes to the eldurrs and confesses.....do they both get busted?
or does the boe need a confession from both people.?
if one of em denies it happened will that person still get df'd?.

Shirley that sort of thing goes on a lot. Commit adultery to get divorced, remarry and get reinstated. The elders are supposed to look for that type of thing when adultery is committed.
Remember when homosexual sex wasn't considered adultery and you couldn't get divorced?

Welcome Chip! What a story. I'm glad you and your ex-wife found happiness. Really just an amazing story.
You were at WTF in the 80s? I don't know if Chip is your real name but if so do you mind telling us some more about your experiences there? What department did you work in? What congregation were you assigned? If that's too personal I get it I won't expect answers.
Glad you joined and posted.

Could we ever see a GB member disassociate?
by pleaseresearch inwe saw it with raymond franz.
but do you think we could ever see one of the current gb members or future ones, make the same choice?.
to leave, and expose it..

Oh come on no discussion at all about some members of the GB using another member as a scapegoat to lay blame for losing J's blessing? I really think they'd do it if they felt it would increase donations and reinvigorate the rank and file.
If they did scapegoat someone I think Geoffrey Jackson is a solid candidate because of his ARC testimony.

Every Know Anyone Too "Weak" To Wake Up?
by freemindfade ina jw that is probably irregular, they don't really attend meetings, they are not up on anything going on, they may even seem like they are faded but they are not, they are just slackers.
a jw that is impervious to the f.o.g.
(ok maybe it bums them, but they are too lazy and self serving to do otherwise).

Lostwun, that's why I love the internet. None of us are alone any more.
I see it as a catch-22:
I believe for my wife to ever wake up she would need to become a hardcore dub who is 1000% involved with the witnesses - and then maybe something would happen that would affect her enough that she would be willing to research. But, living with a hardcore zealous dub would drive me and the kids insane.
But, as she is now she'll probably never wake up since she's living a fairly "normal" life. She doesn't have much to wake up from.
Every once in awhile someone in the KH will try to get my wife more active by calling, texting, taking her in service or meeting for lunch and stuff. It works for awhile but eventually the zealous dub gets tired out by my wife's refusal for self motivation. Every time this happens I worry that she'll become a super dub - that's when I realized that I prefer her the way she is now, which probably means no chance of waking her up.

While I faded I appeared totally committed to dubdom. It wasn't until I started missing more and more meetings that anyone caught on. By then it was too late as I had slowly and quietly withdrew my friendship from most in the hall.
At least one other couple has faded from my old hall, which surprised me at first but then I thought about a few of our conversations and realized they'd be a bit too liberal in their thinking about things. At the time I figured they were just a bit less judgmental than others.

Memorial campaign with videos??
by BeautifulMind ingood morning from the east coast.
i have a question.
a friend of mine texted me and one of the things she said was that they were getting a lot of great responses with the campaign because they are showing the video.

It might not be a crisis of conscience but political maneuvering and maybe even a majority of the body choosing another member as a scapegoat. Once one or two GB members are scapegoated the remaining members could make a few changes that may quiet the dubs like blood, birthdays and 144k being figurative. They might see this as a way to reinvigorate the dubs into more donations and activity.
Just thinking outside the box.

I've thought about this before.
My wife does does a lot of non-witness stuff which I won't detail here but if the elders found out she'd be in for counseling for sure (pretty much she draws the line at whether someone from the hall will see her; so at home she's 75% worldly). Her conscience must be pretty smoothed over by now. She has spotty meeting and field service attendance as well.
But, she loves Jehovah and thinks the witnesses are 10000000% right on everything.
She's in just enough to never leave because it isn't uncomfortable, she just coasts along knowing she'll see her dead relatives and get to pet panda bears any day.

Must be two witnesses. But, the elders would be watching the person like a hawk.
I know of one experience where this happened. No judicial action was taken on either person. If I remember right the teen that confessed was judged as repentant and the non confessing teen couldn't be touched due to the two witness rule. The elders investigated to see if other teens knew they were alone together or if they had seen other instances of "brazen conduct" but no knew or would rat. They watched the teen for years just waiting for something to happen.
What a messed up religion.
