Do you think any of the GB have different beliefs?
by neat blue dog indo you think any higher ups know that much of the doctrine they teach is bunk?
thinking back to the time of raymond franz, how he pointed out specifically numerous teachings that the churches really did have right all along, and really any of the hidden mic apostacy trials you listen to on youtube, you see that even when inconvenient bible teachings are proven, the elders just try to sweep it under the rug and move on.
i think i remember franz saying how one of the gb approached him somewhat sympathetically, but there was nothing he could do.. whether you believe in the bible or not, there are some basic beliefs common among most denominations because they're just so plainly stated, such things as heavenly life for all christians, no central authority structure, minimal use of god's name, etc.

I don't recall reading threads about the GB shouting behind closed doors. Can someone provide links, I tried searching and couldn't find the threads.

I've been around 15 years but don't post much. I'm not the type to make a big impression on boards like this. I mostly read and learn. I miss Leolaia who taught me so much. I lurked for a long while before joining and did a lot of research on doctrine before I could let go of the dubs and move on. All my kids are free but my wife is not.

I wonder who they're really trying to convince with their list?
Hmmmm, maybe the FB poster needs to study and pray more to strengthen their faith.

Wow that's total news to me. I agree with others, every form of gambling was off limits. We even had talks about what to do if someone gave you a free lottery ticket.

A lot of us have been where you are. It is stressful and lonely. At least it was for me. Having this board and the few friends I made at work saved my life.

My wife is still in and probably always will be. Partly social and partly to spite me, maybe.

Need Help - How do I refute this???
by HappyBlessedFree inso i was talking with my husband about all the things the organization is doing ie.
hiding pedophiles, lying about what 1914 was etc.
so his response was that the nation of israel had times when they weren’t doing the right thing, but it was still gods chosen organization.. another topic we were talking about was disfellowshipping.

This was the argument I used:
This was a discussion point I had with my wife. But, I think it is really better to not discuss doctrine. They cannot see the other side of an issue.
Prior to the outpouring of Jehovah's holy spirit his followers made all sorts of mistakes and had disagreements about what was correct, even the apostles (read the threads on circumcision). But, once the holy spirit was poured out that stopped. The organization claims Jehovah's holy spirit is active upon it, therefore they shouldn't have to change doctrine or make the mistakes like the Israelites made.
I wish you the best of luck.
