JW Net and Politics
by snare&racket inthis site was and remains instrumental in assisting people that want to leave the jw's.. there has been political discussion here for some time now, a good couple of years and it makes me feel a little uneasy.
i just opened up the site for the first time in some weeks, of the 10 posts being discussed, 4 were by the same poster, about politics, promoting their right wing beliefs.. this has been the trend for some time now, the same name behind a peppering of posts stirring the right v left of politics.. i remain forever grateful to the site and it's founders simon & angharad, i appreciate that simon shares some of these these political beliefs.
it would be a shame to see the site evolve from a place for jw freedom of thought and escape, to political squabbling, that the world is frankly tired of right now.. just to clarify, politics is my hobby, whilst my friends read the football scores, i'm reading polling data.

by goingthruthemotions inso me and my pimi wife are driving today and normally we don't talk anything about her stupid cult.

i have been to three different wakes/funerals where a disfellowshipped person attended with different results.. 1. ten years ago my first cousin passed away.

My experience is that it depends on the family and congregation. Your experiences seem to indicate the same.

Do You Support Trump Being Impeached Again?
by minimus init looks like it can happen again and i suspect if it does happen, the senate will not convict either because they can’t convict him since it’s after his presidency or simply because they don’t have sufficient votes..

Impeach? Nah. Arrest? Yes. For what he did to the conservative movement.

Thoughts on Zoom
by waton inthe wt sponsored zoom meetings reduce individual freedom, spirituality.
the wt sponsored zoom meetings enables ego maniacs, narcissists to have their influence beamed right into your living room.
conversations that were private, personal are now broadcast, forced on all participants.

My wife pays less attention to the Zoom meeting than she did at the KH. Also, she will have some alcohol before the meeting sometimes and even take her dinner into the room she uses for the zoom calls. she is much more relaxed about meetings than she was and dreads going back to KH.

how do spouse's treat their partners if they leave the cult?
by mickbobcat inso i was fortunate enough to have a wife that listened and saw what i was saying was true and that the cult is bs.
but i wonder how bad it is in a relationship that one goes out of the cult and the other stays in.
i can see that being a real issue for a marriage.

Some folks are crying as bad the Dems were in 2016. Trump won with 306 electoral votes and now Biden has. And guess what, in four years we all get to vote for president again! Yay

Sorry man but I've been out for a pretty long time and my wife is as committed to the dubs as ever. She's let her guard down with some things but generally believes it all.
I go through the same thing you do about cult-wife and regular-wife.
Only you will know when if it becomes time for you to divorce, separate or not.
Hang in there.

Being Removed From Facebook and Twitter
by minimus ini have a very good friend who has been banned from facebook simply because he makes remarks positive about president trump and negative toward the democratic party.
he has tried to get back on facebook and it appears there is no way for him to return.
people are being removed from social media platforms simply because they have a different political view.

A few of the successful (mostly) Sherman Act court cases the government has undertaken (not all): Standard Oil, American Tobacco, AT&T, Northern Securities (Railroad), Swift&Co price fixing (meat packing), Kodak, Paramount Pictures.
I could see and understand Verizon, AT&T, etc made were in collusion to make internet access more difficult for republicans versus others. That would seem to fit under Sherman Act regulations and sort of matches up with Swift & Co, Kodak and Paramount Pictures cases.
I could see if Facebook kept individuals, based on politics or something else, from posting on other sites due to collusion, that also would seem to fall under the Sherman Act.
I just am not sure I see that an independent company can be made to "fair" and that is in quotes because each of us defines "fair" differently. Facts are facts, but fairness is in the eye of the beholder.
What if Facebook said, from now on anyone who says their a Republican can't post. Uproar! Unbelievable! the death of their financial future! But, legal, stupid - but legal.
What's to stop FoxNews or Newsmax from opening a FB rival that caters to conservatives? Free and open posting of all ideas! Users may flock to it, money to be made. Completely legal.
