When I was a dub I totally believed, without every checking, that all 237 times Jehovah was used in the NT were direct quotes from the OT. I accepted that the original writers would have copied the text correctly. Once I faded and found out the truth about the insertion of Jehovah in the NT I was blown away.

It was as if the WTS sunk to a new low for me and I couldn't believe it. I knew they were wrong doctrinally but to be dishonest - that was a new low which by now I realize they regularly sink to.

Jeff Schwemm had a thread on this some time ago with some really great info. I couldn't find it but maybe somebody (or js) could.

As far as the WTS having an updated Revelation book - it doesn't. However, the WTS has been known to make editorial changes to their publications before reprinting them. For example, the Reasoning book was changed slightly (whether sodom/gomorrah would be ressurected) when it was reprinted in 1989. No announcement is usually made when small changes of this nature occur when reprinting a publication. That's why some Daniel books have slighlty different wording.

So, it is entirely possible for the Revelation book to have had a minor makover in the necessary areas to make it ready for restudy. I'll bet an announcement to get a new copy for the study, as usual, will be made before January 2007.

Wow the liquor add was a new one to me. It seems that the liquor company agents and the WTBTS worked out a deal without litigation. Weird that the WTS would have used the picture in the first place. This must have been before the lawyers took over. I bet this wouldn't happen now. The lawyers would freak out if the WTS got sued over plagarism and copyright infringements.

however we have found out that there is going to be an announcement sometime in september and it is supposed to be shocking.

I feel that there is some new light coming up. The sheep are being primed.

But, I really don't think it has anything to do with 1935. They wouldn't prime the sheep as heavily as they are for that. Let's face it that is a doctrine that most dubs don't even know much less care about. The WTS could change that tomorrow in an Awake articel and noone would even notice - well, we would.

It's gotta be something that will affect the everyday life of the dubs for the run up to the change to be so dramatic.

Let's face it, several WT study articles, bookstudy, reviewing the OM book, DC focus and various meeting parts have all been about DO WHAT THE FDS SAYS EVEN IF IT DOESN'T MAKE TOTAL SENSE.

1935? No. Something that his each dub in their daily life? Yes.

What is it? I have no clue. They didn't even pump things up this much for the 1995 generation change.

As a dub it would be nice to be able to use this new treatment option and have the Awake to cya.

I think there are a lot of dubs that would take blood if it was allowed by the WTS. Hopefully many will use their conscience and decide to use these products.

Harassed about filling out new blood card...

an elder in my congregation asked me again yesterday, for about the tenth time, whether i have filled out my new blood card yet - is this normal?

it is getting embarrassing as i just keep saying i have not got round to it yet.

i am getting the feeling that it is being used as a sort of loyalty test.

Just for clarification - the US blood card doesn't have the clause about accessing medical records.

From my reading of the article this one seems less condemnatory of the ones who may choose to use the HBOCs than the WTS would normally be.

Usually they say how bad they are and how the Bible is so clear, BUT if you really want to, well ok do it but don't say we didn't warn you!

In this article they just say it presents a serious decision which we must pray over and meditate on.

If the WT comes out with an article on the subject in the next few months we'll get the WTS real feelings on the subject.

Make no mistake, though, even though this article was in an Awake and not a WT it is still valid WTS instruction to dubs. Not as powerful but still valid.

Why are EX-JW's and JW's in doubt(faders) so ''afraid" of the elders?

i have been out for years now but i still tremble alittle when i run into an elder at the store or run into an elder on the street and my post question certainly applies to me as well but why do i still have fear of jw's elders?

i have been da'd for so many years but that fear still comes up.

and reading alot of the post here i still see ex-jw's and jw's faders living a pretended jw life or pretending to be happy when they are miserable in the wt.

First things first. I think the term fader in the title of this thread is being incorrectly used. A fader is someone who is fading - that is gradually leaving the organization. Most faders do this to maintain family contact and achieve freedom. This is hard work and requires patience, long suffering and a plan plan plan. These ones have a tough road to go and deserve as much credit as those who go out with a thunderous bang.

Someone with doubts but still attends isn't a fader. They are someone who doubts. Simply put they aren't sure what to do or how to do it. Coming here and reading our stories will help them make their decision - each in their own way and time.

As far as having fear of elders; those who have faded successfully always have some residual fear of losing the tenuous connections they maintain with their family. Will the elders notice this? Will the elders take an interest in me today? tomorrow? Never? Most faders I know don't fear the elders for themselves but for the effect the elders have on family ties. Those who have faded and have family still in are dependent on the elders. Why? Because the believing family members give control over the family ties to the elders.

Revelation It's Grand Climax at Hand! - bookstudy

i was reading e-watchman today and someone there is saying that after studying the what does the bible really teach book at bookstudies the next book will be the revelation book!!!.

there isn't any real proof, but the poster claimed a letter from bethel stated this.

perhaps some here can dig around and confirm or deny this new rumor.. we've studied it 3 times in the past and it's been awhile.
