Demoted from elder to MS, anybody ever heard of this?
by Naoscillator inso a friend in a nearby hall told me their co came through, and in a hellish week of long meetings and inquisition overhauled the boe.
only one remains as elder, three were re-appointed as ms, and one, the cobe was deleted entirely.. two new elders were brought in as new secretary and cobe / watchtower conductor, respectively, and introduced to the congregation from the platform on sunday immediately following his second talk.
he reminded everybody of the authority he has and then named the new appointees.

Although now that COs have the appointing power perhaps the rules have changed on demotion. -

Just two weeks in our new home and the knock at the door happens!!
by truthseekeriam injust relaxing with my morning coffee enjoying looking at the pictures fipper shared of the camping trip when the dreaded knock came.
of course the dogs beat me to the door followed by my daughter trying to catch them, she looks through the giant peep hole and waves me away saying "its them.
" i almost just walked away from the door when i saw the sweet face of a 5/6 year old little boy with his mom and dad and couldn't resist talking to them.. i opened the door and smiled and said jehovah's witnesses?

Use of first names at the KH

I used brother/sister and last name in formal congregation settings or with people I didn't know very well. If it was someone I knew well I used their first name and dropped the brother/sister crap.

Go slow. Go slow. Go slow.
She doesn't fully realize it yet but you've just removed a huge part what she considers her life's foundation. You have to move slowly.
Help her to realize, by being an extremely great husband, that you can be the same husband she married and loves even though you aren't a dub zealot anymore - and soon won't even be a dub.
If you rush you will send her running to the elders and all the painstaking work you've taken your time to accomplish will be gone.
Stepping down is hard but managing to maintain your marriage through the rest of the fade is the really hard part - because your wife lives with you and knows you so well she will see through any smokescreen statements about stress and family obligations.
I let my wife know I wasn't comfortable with all the changes that were taking place and how the WTS handled them. I had doubts/concerns and wanted to research some stuff for myself. She gave me time to do that. I also clearly told her that if she wanted me to talk to the elders I would but I wouldn't just accept their word as answers and they don't have any additional information that I didn't have so I would probably be disfellowshipped after a couple of visits with them (because they would answer my doubts but I wouldn't just nod my head and let it go). She let me research on my own which slowly slowly slowly allowed me to fade away without having to deal with anyone. Anytime I got a question from a friend or family member I just said I didn't want to discuss it because it was so personal and that if I needed to talk to the elders I would - fat chance that would have happened but it worked to keep everyone off my back.
Your duties are off of you so you can be a seat warmer at the meetings, when you go. Just don't make any sudden moves or statements.
Best of luck. Of course, all of this is just my opinion.

The 1995 Generation Change
by sloppyjoe2 ini was just a teenager and have a vivid memory of sitting in a chair doing a microphone for the sunday meeting.
everyone was commenting that it didn't mean the end was far off, and it didn't change the condition of the dead, or the 144,000, or the trinity so we should still remain faithful.
this is my first memory as a kid being just a teen that i ever had a single doubt.

Joel Engardio was writing about the witnesses as far back as 1995. I didn't know that. -

Huge story unfolding at Warwick
by Crazyguy inits been mentioned before that warwick is a toxic dump and now the jw's are suing a former owner for compensation.
well this is huge on so many levels.
one they new it was contaminated back a few years ago so why move your headquarters there?
-
TheListener
Have to review the old news articles but I thought the previous owner was a nickel plant or something and that the wts knew the land had contamination but were planning to build on the uncontaminated portion.
I will need to read old news articles to refresh my knowledge.

Since a lot of teens in general feel like they know everything already - being a dub can be the perfect thing. What would be better than being smarter and knowing information that 99.99% of humanity doesn't listen to or understand?
It can feed into their natural ego.

Disfellowshipped at 18
by asensier inyou can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.
he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.
we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

Asensier, I offer you a warm welcome and a listening ear. I'm really sorry to hear about your situation with your family. I am glad that you have someone in your life offering support. Please don't let this situation derail your future. Research your witness beliefs, if you have them any longer and then do your best to move on with your life making sure to surround yourself with supportive positive people.
