Question for believers, heaven or earth?

FayeDunaway's post is great and when I was a witness I had NO IDEA that most protestants felt that way.
When I found that out it shook me a lot. I've mentioned it to my wife but nothing get through her thought stopping process.
TNT, about your OP, I really don't even know how I feel these days. I could see myself identifying with Deism but I don't understand all its nuances. I am no longer afraid that God will kill me for my choices and I am willing to admit that I have no idea what will happen to me when I die. Does that make me nervous? Sometimes. When talking to a dub or even my wife I always identify with an earthly paradise to maintain common ground.

I'm no math guy but...
If you don't change the amount of work to be done then won't you really use the same amount of volunteer hours - just not as spread out? Which may end up having its own associated costs.
It seems that the cheapest way to shorten their schedule is to reduce the scope (either the size, number or finishes of buildings).
OEJ, can you explain that management triangle you mentioned?

Brother Tim Horton, the new service overseer
by dropoffyourkeylee instopped in tim horton's ( a donut shop) at 10:00 a m today and there were no less than 12 jws in there from three different car groups.
it took about 25-30 minutes for them all to get their orders and get on their way.
that's almost 6 hours of service time in the glorious 'ministry'.

Every good dubbie knows that if you start your time AND THEN go to Tim Horton's you don't have to stop counting time. As long as you are balanced.
hahahahahaha Pharisees!!!!!

Poopie, I'm somehow missing part of the conversation, or just don't get it. Is there a book called "JW from African American Perspective"? I looked on google and couldn't find anything. Can you help with actual name and author? If so does that book have a scan of William Jackson's birth certificate? Thanks.

Hi noobie here.
by Grags inhi my name is graham (but i much prefer to be called grags), i'm a 38 year old married man from the uk and have been studying with the witnesses for about 3 months.
i do a study every saturday and love every minute.
in john 6: 16-24 jesus's disciples get onto a boat without jesus and set off.

Hi Grags, I seem to be late on this thread and maybe you are gone or maybe, just maybe you are still reading. Well, welcome!
One of my most favorite subjects in the NT is grace. I truly believe that for a christian everything stems from receiving and giving grace.
Best of luck in your bible studies. By the way, you should ask your study conductor what they mean by overlapping generations and then have them show you that specific explanation in the bible.

I wonder how they cut 4 months off their plan? Build less? Spend more? Lower cost/quality materials that can be gotten faster? -

Does the W.T have financial problems are are they just rebranding?
by The Rebel init is evident that the w.t has recently re-branded itself, and has become fairly modern in its marketing techniques.
so the organisation is in that respect forward thinking, and the former way of doing things has past.. .
but this rebranding has been done by marketing experts, who maybe realise progress is progress, and that with modernisation many bethelites " even as free volunteers" are possibly no longer required.

Most dubs I know don't know anything about the layoffs but my guess is when they learn they'll just know that armgageddon is coming soon....
Since their core belief is that this system is doomed, all input to their brains is interpreted to fit that belief.

I also think it's financial trouble since they've been raiding the congregation and circuit accounts for extra cash and still put projects on hold and have even said that new KHs will be built if the there are funds for that purpose. Which to me means the local brothers will have to donate all over again if they want to build a local KH and don't expect help from mother or the LDC. -

A question about fading....
by Tornintwo ini understand that many on this forum are undertaking a slow fade, over months, years even.. can i ask what is the benefit of that instead of a fast fade?.
as i understand it, the elders only have to deal judicially with people who are still active witnesses, known in the community as witnesses, having contact and influence with witnesses etc.
so surely the sooner you stop attending meetings the better.

I faded slow so I could keep my family. The only problem with fading is that it never really ends. The elders can do what they want as far as finding you years and years later and disfellowshipping you for some trumped up reason.
I've always sort of envied those who DA or DF because once they're out they can freely do what they want with their lives.
