Seriously, I understand the 'not giving them ideas' thing but this isn't rocket science; they've known for decades that they could divorce the partaking them emblems thing from the heavenly hope thing. I mean, we're talking about the organization that came up with, or resurrected from some other source, the overlapping generation teaching. If they can teach that, then they can teach anything. -

How do I handle this situation?
by BarelyThere inhey everyone.
i'm sorry that this isn't a very thought provoking post but i could really use some advice on how to handle this.
there isn't anyone else in my life i can ask right now because, being dfed, all of my friends are "worldly" and don't know how witnesses function.

OK I do have one piece of advice. Maybe, really only maybe, you should switch congregations to one where they don't know you or don't know you very well. Even though the original JC will be responsible for reinstating you it may be helpful to be away from your ex-husband's contacts and any personal animosity that individuals may have developed for you. Who wants to go to every meeting and not only be ignored but also silently spied on and hated. -

Oh man! I don't really have any advice but I wanted you to know I read your post and think that the MS reply is disgusting, really super disgusting. You may get some flaming posts for reading the PMs but who gives a sh#!, they were there and you read them. What to do? I will leave that to others. -

Im sick of my life
by BlackWolf insorry but i really feel like i need to rant right now.
recently my dad was made an elder so my family has been doing a lot more "theocratic" activities lately.
every morning i wake up and put on my itchy dress and stupid makeup and heels and then pretend that i love what i'm doing and that everybody is my friend when in reality i feel horrible and all the other teenage girls at my hall hate me for some reason.

That's great Cappytan! Another solid idea. I know a lot of the young ones in our area go into entry level IT jobs with a high school education. This would be a great way to build up a skill and then get a job that may allow you to move out when you're old enough and support yourself while you continue your education in some form or fashion.

Talesin, Coursera sounds great. Maybe some of that could be done during the meetings to help relieve the boredom and frustration. Not sure if that would work but maybe. -

Formerbrother, I read a lot of the thread but not all, it's really long. I never saw anyone discuss the post Sparky1 made on page 11 about the Seventh Day Adventists. They really do get the word out there. Do they go door to door, I don't think so, but I also don't believe the bible limits preaching to only a single method as I'm sure you know the witnesses agree with. Witnesses use multiple methods to reach what they consider right hearted ones.
I'm glad you're here and hope you keep posting. I researched for a looooooong time before I was able to finally realize that what my family had believed for several generations was not what I believed. I remained an active witness during my searching period and it cost me a lot physically and mentally once I realized that I felt the witnesses didn't actually teach what the bible teaches.
There are some fantastic older threads where this board discusses in great detail blood transfusions, idol meat, door to door witnessing, destruction of Jerusalem in 607, cross versus stake, disfellowshipping....well, you get the point. Dig deep for the spiritual gems.

Why couldn't the GB just say the number is figurative but there are still two classes and only God knows who is heavenly bound and who is not.
They can still say the figurative number indicates a smaller amount and not all dubs will be selected by God for the heavenly calling. As long as the number of partakers stayed relatively low compared to overall publisher numbers everyone would buy it. If the partaking numbers got out of hand they could have new light that all partake but still only a small number go to heaven. Just by separating partaking from automatic heavenly hope they could solve the issue (which they already do anyway by calling most partakers mentally unstable every year).

My life After Bethel Part 1
by new boy inthe day i left it was pouring rain........i really screwed up, i found out the night before, as i was packing things up, that i had way under estimated how much stuff i had.
i had two large suit cases (that i could barely shut the lids on) and a large army duffel bag.
i would guess about 200 pounds of shit......my van was in rhode island with the engine out of it.

Awesome! Legal sex at bethel, I love it! And if you couldn't find a room available one of your friends would let you secretly crash in their room (if they had a cool roommate). -

My Bthel Experince Part 19 The Last Chapter..(really) Bethel Overseers
by new boy inthere were other people who either killed themselves or tried to kill themselves while they were at "the house of god.
one person who did kill himself was richard wheelock, press room overseer ......he jumped out of a window at the watchtower farm one day.
it seemed, he was never quite the same after his wife "willy" died.

Great series. I got called to the home overseers office once with my roommate and got yelled at for hiding dishes in our mini fridge and elsewhere and our stereo wires being messy. Right in the middle of the work day. How stupid. -

I remember how hard it was to tell my wife that ibdidnt believe in the WTS and then to face my other family members. And I was a grown man with a family, job and car. I can't even imagine the stress you are going through. All I can say is feel free to vent here anytime you want.
Try to find the small things where you can exercise some personal freedom and enjoyment. Your life has meaning and you deserve to be happy! You deserve to be happy!
