Oh, so the JW led unit for non-blood surgery wasn't as good as it should have been and the patient died? Wow!
I wish there was a way someone could sue the WTS over something like this.

Conan, you've gotten a lot of good advice from the forum. It's always nice to be able to share with others. I hope things work out well for you. I was also thinking that if you want to learn about Jesus you may be able to locate a nice non-denominational church near where you live. They often have weekly bible study lessons which aren't nearly as pushy or take-it-or-leave-it as the witnesses are. Plus you can come and go and use any available outside study materials you want - usually. Anyway, I wish you the best on your journey. -

Had a operation today and was asked about blood transfusions.
by atomant inoperation was successful only minor but some interesting information was revealed to me from the surgeon.l requested that they treat me as if l was a jehovahs witness with regards to blood transfusions.the doctor said well that varies from jw to jw and l asked what do you mean?his response was that in his dealings with jw's was that approx half of witnesses will accept a blood transfusion in life threatening circumstances and sign a form saying so.l was blown away when he told me this.l was curious if others in here have heard similar storys.lt seems to me that many witnesses have weakened their stance on this controversial subject.

Island Man you only pasted part of my post. I wasn't going to say anything but it made me look even dumber than I am so here is the rest of the post:
...but by taking the blood you disassociate yourself which saves them the time and trouble of having a judicial committee. It's all semantics with the Dubisees (dub + Pharisees).

Yeah I guess you're right OC. I just fell back on my old thinking which was the doctors would be more careful if they couldn't use blood. But, you're right it is unfair to assume that just because a doctor can use blood that they would play fast and loose with your life.
However, I would be willing to also agree that in specific circumstances with specific doctors that this could be true.
I did decide in my case to never mention the JW thing since I don't want my doctor worrying about anything other than my health and not what he/she can or cannot do.

I guess I don't get it. The person wanted bloodless surgery, got bloodless surgery and died. Why is anyone owing the family money?
And since when do JWs control bloodless surgery units right in the hospitals themselves?
I thought witnesses were unlettered and ordinary. At least that's what I was told when I wanted to go to college.

As far as I know it's only a conscience matter in that you can take it and they probably won't disfellowship you - but by taking the blood you disassociate yourself which saves them the time and trouble of having a judicial committee. It's all semantics with the Dubisees (dub + Pharisees).
Atomant, would you really have let yourself die to avoid a blood transfusion or did you just want the doctor to be extra careful during the surgery?

Nothing screams mass indoctrination and cult like a wall of literature carts at a Rolling Stones concert. -

How did you feel when they eliminated the Con. Book Study?
by Freeandclear inyears ago when i was "in" i loved the book study.
it was my favorite meeting by far.
mainly because it was a small group.

TheListener
Wow the bookstudy has been gone awhile now. Imagine how many witnesses probably don't even remember the bookstudy! We probably have posters here who joined the dubs and left and never even attended a bookstudy. -

Just threw away...
by stephanie61092 inso even though i don't drive much because public transit is so good where i live (and parking is a living nightmare), i always had a paper taped onto my glove box that said "no blood transfusions - jehovahs witness.
see legal documentation in wallet.
going through this "wake up" process as been a very crazy, emotional experience.

I remember how nervous I was to tear mine up. Like somehow I'd get in an accident and be left without God's approval. I also tore up my kids minor identity cards. Once I was over the fear and guilt I felt great and still do!!!!
