R.C. - Thanks.
Six - It's really incredible what is out there in the way of AFV's. It's truly a grassroots effort. There are thousands of individuals who are taking matters into their own hands and converting to alternative choices while small companies are doing a great job of creating new rides. True, the prices are not cheap yet but they are coming down and the rides are getting sexier. Everyones heard of the Tesla but there are many other too. ZAP, a maker of NEV's (neighborhood electrics...the little golf cart like ones that are restricted to 35mph or less areas) is joining with Lotus to make a very nice, fast EV. "Lightening" is a car made in England that is beautiful, sexy, fast and electric. I could go on and on. I believe, even without the big car companies involvment, in a couple of years there will be a great looking electric with 300 mile range for $30k or under.
We have to make the guys like me, the ones who love hot rods, realize that you can have an earth-friendly ride that is fast and fun.

PS. I will miss the noise and smells of the old cars.

I used to produce a classic car TV show that ran for many years on PBS across the nation and was syndicated in several countries. That's the main reason I was treated with kid gloves by the Dubbie Powers. I was born into the crap but my father never pressured me to get dunked. I left for awhile but felt it had to be the truth and I wasn't worthy so I married a worldy girl who became a terrific, hypocritical dubbie. While married to her I studied with every elder in every cong we attended, finally getting to the point of going over the "questions" for baptism. Most guys like me would be treated badly or marked but I was very successful. The locals felt great that I was associating and producing this show. Every meeting I got to talk to everyone about the latest "shoot" and what I cars and people I covered. (Good Gawd I hope this doesn't turn into my life's story)
Cut to the chase. My good little dubbie wife (she's still in but goes out of town to fornicate with worldly guys hoping to snag a rich one) who I trusted to manage the money while I did everything else kept getting us into trouble. I was making six figures in the '90's and we had the IRS on our asses because she would forget the quarterly payments. When we split I owed $85,000 to the IRS, and there were other creditors too. She was also writing the checks to the cong every month so when I the husband (believing but not dunked) went to the elders to ask them to tell her to give me more control over the $$...guess what? They supported her and told me that I had "upset her and since she was fragile vessel" (or some such shit) that it was "my duty" to treat her gently and remember she was raising my kids in God's Org. (vomit)
Really cut to the chase this time...It all blew up and we divorced. I did manage to get my 50-year member parents out and my son. My only daughter is still in and has hardly anything to do with her grandmother, brother or me (my Dad passed a couple of years ago). Anyway, while producing the classic car show I interviewed some guys who were building electric hot rods in Arizona. The idea of an AFV show has been simmering in my head for years.
So, I have spent the last year researching, shooting and getting ready for a new series called "Future Ridez." I thought it would be a breeze but PBS has changed and thrown some roadblocks in my way. They want to control content in the show and I'm considering a lawsuit against their affiliated org that told me what to cut out and what to leave in. I'm not a conspiracy freak but...why would PBS get upset over some innocuous but true statements like "OPEC controls 75% of the worlds oil"? So I did some research and there's evidence to support something "fishy." The facts show PBS is funded by Cargill and others who have major stakes in corn ethanol (supported heavily by the govt). They also get funding from oil companies. There is also evidence that shows the present administration is appointing many of the board members on the CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting), the folks who control the funding to stations, producers, etc.
But what the hell, I don't need them. I am now negotiating with a FOX afilliate, of all people. Rupert made a "green" committment a few weeks ago so maybe they're for real. Hard to believe but I just want to get the show on and get the info out there. Here's the initial website we came up with... www.Futureridez.com (note the "z"). It's still being worked on (obviously we're gonna have to take the PBS off) so don't be too critical. There's a short 3-min video on the "Why Sponsor" page that tells a little of our history and some about the new show. Yes my pic is on it but I'm not the guy with the big jaw.

Anyone watched the film 'Sicko'?
by katiekitten ini watched this film last night, and it made me really really grateful that we have free health care in the uk.
i know we complain about the state of the nhs, but the bottom line is if there is ever anything wrong with me my first thought will not be 'does my insurance cover this' or 'can i afford this'.. there was one part of the film where michael moore takes some people to cuba to get free health care and one woman picks up inhalers for 5 cents a piece, that are costing her $120 in the us.
she just breaks down and crys at the disparity of the cost.. it was also telling to see the insurance companies employ people specifically to try and find ways to deny claims or to void policies where a claim has been made.

My girlfriend is a senior forensic investigator (fancy name for data analyst) dealing with and busting Providers (doctors) for Medi-care fraud.
That sounds like it would be a fun job!
Unfortunately she just gets to go thru reams of paperwork looking for discrepencies...she doesn't get to go on the actual busts. They turn those over to FBI, OIG and various other assorted alphabet govt groups. She does love it though and she saves the system/us millions of dollars every year. It's just kinda pathetic though becasue no matter how well her and her group perform they know there are many others defrauding the system and costing all of us a ton 'o bucks.

Just watched that pathetic piece of crap last night. How dare the fact that French doctors can live in a million dollar house, own two expensive cars and make only around $200,000 per year...AND offer their top-notch, socialized medicine to everyone!
(ok tongue out of cheek now)
My girlfriend is a senior forensic investigator (fancy name for data analyst) dealing with and busting Providers (doctors) for Medi-care fraud. She doesn't even bother with the ones who are scamming the system for a million bucks or less because there are so many in the multi-million category. A great many of them are coming into this country from other areas because it is so easy to get rich quick. Our system is broke and there are too many crooks (politicians especially) involved to fix it. It needs a whole new revamp.
In 1980 I went to Canada to have a back procedure done (wasn't available in the states). I paid (out of my pocket) $2,500. The Canadian sitting next to me, having the same procedure told me it cost him $15 bucks. I had cancer a few years ago and EVEN with my pathetic Blue Shield Insurance, for which I was shelling out $500 a month for, the bills still pushed me near bankruptcy.
Anyone who says our system is great needs to grow a brain...or they're one of the scammers getting rich at the expense of the middle class.

PS. I'm not a huge fan of Michael Moore but we make it very easy for him to lampoon us with his documentaries by sticking our heads in the sand. Don't blame the messenger.

What has this religion become? THE WATCHTOWER madhouse
by Terry inc.t.russell began with a personal "purpose" which was to find a way to believe in/worship god while doing away with the beliefs he found to be personally uncomfortable such as hellfire.
he shopped around and cherry picked 2nd adventist views as a foundation.
to this he added pyramidology.

Do you think God is a Liar?
by BONEZZ ini've struggled with trying to believe in a god since i left the fold.
i've been indoctrinated by dubizm for most of my life and more and more it all seems pretty incredulous.
the latest lady liberty post about adam caused a lightbulb to go off...and i know you'll let me know if i'm wrong in my assessment.. all my life i've heard, "god cannot tell a lie" and "the bible is true.

lovelylil,
Thank you for your thoughts...but it seems that God has given us a possibly mis-translated book with convoluted information, interpreted by mis-guided modern day prophets. And if we don't understand what it's all about we are going to be mass murdered at Big "A"...or go to Hell...or whatever.
It just seems He could have been a little clearer. I mean afterall He is God and He knows how puny our brains are and how imperfect we are. Who knows what is literal and what is not. What with talking donkeys & bushes, witches and a servant of God offering his daughters up to rapists. It would take several human lifetimes for a person with a Phd to get an understanding of all the meanings that may or may not be involved, the translations, mis-translations and fine nuances involved. I guess I am just overwhelmed. Usually this is where the "christian" comes along and says, "well all you really need is faith."
