..sold some on ebay, but there were a few folks who would bid 'em up and not pay.this happened many mnay times, and even tho they got busted and banned from ebay, they alwasy started again.
I think those are good lil' dubbies. I tried to sell a big collection of about 200+ books and paraphnelia...one guy in Tennessee wnet so far as to out bid everyone, told me the check was in the mail and to go ahead and send the stuff to a PO box...yeah right...he also gave me a fake phone number. Those Darn Dubbies....practicing Theo-War.

oh how happy i am to be home, i never ever thought i would make it in.
it started off nice enough, i was supposed to have a pre-valentine day salsa party night with some friends.
i was a bit excited, but i kept checking the weather and it was a little shaky.
As someone already mentioned, it's time to take the train to Margaritaville.

he made a ton of $$ in the '90's selling how to get rich in real estate courses.
Ya discover the most interesting things when you Google. Appaerntly back in '03 someone from this board posted about old' Dave and his winery and the fact that he is a witless and an elder. AND I responded...didn't remember...gotta start writing this stuff down. Old age is kickin in...maybe I'll double up on the Ginko.

That's why I love this board. I just received a PM from someone who will remain a-non-mouse but informed me that as of a couple of years ago Dave Del Dotto is still in good standing and employs several JW's at his winery. Apparently the local elders take visiting dignitaries by for tours when they wish to impress. This source also said that Del Dotto is considered a "flakey" witness. Kinda thought he might be. The elders probably don't want to advertise his JW connection too much since he was convicted...of fraud I think.

PS. Ya gotta love the Internet. Just googled his name and this came up...
" In short, WA says Del Dotto "charges high fees for information which is virtually worthless, outdated, and unethical." WA authorities were seeking a restraining order to prevent Del Dotto from holding a seminar in the state. Court papers reveal previously unknown facts about Del Dotto: IRS placed a lien on his Hawaii house in 1993. In 1995, Hawaii sued him for nonpayment of $5,000,000 in loans. He filed for Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy, and his corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1995. In 1996, he agreed to pay a $200,000 fine to the FTC"

Thanks. I'm fairly certain he was a shyster. He lived in Hawaii I believe when the infomercials were produced. The guy who worked for me, he and his wife (dubbies) would go to Hawaii on vacation and stay in his guest house. They didn't have much money and always gravitated towards people with bucks. Anyway, during the '90's when Del Dottos troubles with the govt were just starting they moved to Napa area. I believe I was told they were attending a small cong somewhere in Napa area. Just curious if he was still a dub in good graces? Someone out there knows.

His name is Dave Del Dotto. He made a ton of $$ in the '90's selling How To Get Rich in Real Estate courses. He always taped his infomercials in Hawaii and even had John Davidson as a spokesman (who he supposedly witnessed to). He now owns a high class winery, no doubt purchased with money he got from poor fools who bought his course. He was sued by the government and lost...not sure howmuch.
A guy who used to work for me idolized him and would visit and be his un-paid gopher for weeks. Anyway, just wondering. His website doesn't offer any clues. You'd think if he was still in there might be "Paradise Merlot" or something, wink wink. Of course his wine looks high end so most dubs probably can't afford it.

yes i thought rutherford's policy on kid's was dead and the society had wised up....until i read the new "witnesses only" watchtower study magazine...compare.. rutherford's last book "children" 1942 = p.281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years before the other sheep are gathered to the lord, until armagedon...those with infants during armagedon will have greater woe...it would be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation.".
watchtower 2008 april 15 p.19 {picture of a middle aged couple witnessing with question: why do some christian couples decide not to have children?
} paragraph 12 "single or childless for a noble purpose.....numerous couples have decided to remain childless....they often do so to remain freer to serve jehovah...they are willing to place kingdom interests above some of the privileges that go with marriage...jehovah will not forget their work, and the love they show for his name...there will be a great tribulation...doubtless, it will be a difficult time for all of us-adults and children alike.".
But aren't they shooting theirselves in the foot? Afterall, don't the majority of new baptisms come from young family members?

for those of you, newbies or perhaps others who haven't read steve hassan's book - " combatting cult mind control" here are some very important things to remember of how jehovah's witnesses and other " mind control" cults operate .
it may help you to understand some things to see how we were all faked out at one time in our lives.
hassan's book states , " in totalistic cults , the ideology is internalized as " the truth ", the only "map" of reality .
That there was something that broke that thought control
I think this is very true. Personal conflicts and difficulties that are sometimes poo-pooed (I like big words) or wrongly handled by elders can be the spark to jump start a persons critical thinking ability. Sometimes people just get fed up with all the internal gossip.
Also, as another poster mentioned about questioning...you can do it until you get baptized then it is verboten! My Ex used to ask me why I never got baptized even though I was born and raised in it and I would tell her that PART of the reason is I did not want to give up my right to question. She would tell me to get all of my questions answered...as if I would never have any questions once I got baptized. BUT I still felt they were more True than the other guys so I was still controlled and believed the majority of what they said.
The only thing that really broke their grip on me was the way the elders handled our troubled marriage and the "answers" I got from Brooklyn when I wrote them for help. It also opened my 50-year member parents eyes.
